Abstract Neurodegenerative diseases (ND) pose significant challenges for biomedicine in the twenty-first century, particularly considering global demographic ageing and subsequent increase their prevalence. Characterized as progressive, chronic debilitating, they often result higher mortality rates compared with general population. Research agendas biomedical technologies are shaped by power relations, ultimately affecting patient wellbeing care. Drawing on concepts of bio- necropolitics, introduced philosophers Foucault Mbembe, respectively, this perspective examines interplay between territoriality governmentality around ageing, ND death, focussing knowledge production a dispositif highlighting marginal role that phenomenon plays research landscape. We propose shift into acknowledging coloniality embracing its situatedness to attain ‘from death’, understood an epistemic position from which novel approaches practices could emerge.
