First-year students at universities continue to experience adjustment challenges which are an indication of low academic buoyancy. Academic buoyancy is a student’s ability succeed amidst difficulties and setbacks in settings. This study examined the gender differences among first-year undergraduate one public university western Kenya. Within positivist research paradigm, adopted cross-sectional survey design. The sample size comprised 213 students, selected using simple random sampling method. Buoyancy Scale was used collect data. An independent samples t-test test hypothesis. results indicate that there statistically significant difference scores for males females [t (211) = -5.178, p <.001], but magnitude mean moderate (eta squared=.113). Thus, male registered comparatively higher than their female counterparts. implies have better coping mechanisms environmental stressors as compared recommends counselling staff should develop gendered orientation programmes enhance students. Moreover, more focused nurturing all uplift courses they registered.
