The circular bioeconomy is currently a promising model for repurposing natural sources; these sources include plants due to their abundance of bioactive compounds. This study evaluated the antimicrobial properties Chaetomorpha linum extract. an invasive macroalga from Orbetello Lagoon (Tuscany, Italy), which grows in nutrient-rich environments and has been forming extended mats since 2005. biomass mechanically harvested treated as waste, consuming considerable manpower financial resources. As potential way increase value such this found that C. extract (CLE) source phytochemical characterization revealed predominant presence palmitic acid, fatty acid with known activity. Based on findings, four bacterial species high clinical relevance (Enterococcus faecalis, Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli) were tested, revealing notable antibacterial activity Enterococcus faecalis (MIC, 32 μg/mL). Computational analyses identified molecular target offering insights interaction. presents comprehensive vitro silico approach drug discovery studies by

This review examines the potential of Ecklonia maxima, a brown seaweed, as sustainable feed supplement in aquaculture. With industry facing pressure to adopt environmentally friendly practices, E. maxima offers promise due its bioactive compounds that promote growth and health aquatic organisms. Studies have shown dietary supplementation with improves fish rates, conversion efficiency, nutrient retention. The seaweed's compounds, including phlorotannins fucoidans, enhance digestibility, modulate gut health, stimulate immune responses. assesses impact on performance utilization, considering factors like inclusion levels species-specific Findings suggest positively influences parameters efficiency various species, offering alternative conventional additives. However, further research is needed optimize protocols elucidate underlying mechanisms. Leveraging marine resources can help more responsible practices while ensuring continued prosperity. Overall, this emphasizes significance aquaculture, especially sub-Saharan Africa, where region's particular environmental challenges must be addressed production increased growing demand for farming.

Macroalgae-derived oils offer a sustainable and environmentally friendly alternative to conventional mineral additives in lubricant formulation. Their favorable fatty acid profiles can contribute mitigating the environmental impacts caused by using fossil-based products. This study evaluates potential of Sargassum spp. oil, collected from Mexican Caribbean, as lubricity-enhancing additive synthetic base oils. The impact oil on viscosity tribological performance was analyzed. results indicated that has an anti-wear since formulation 10% v/v (PAO6) resulted wear scar diameter value 703.03 ± 15.56 µm, which is about lower than PAO6 used commercial control. Additionally, significantly enhanced index, with 169, notably higher control (137). parameter coefficient friction reduced 0.1 0.08 (about 27%) when oil. These findings underline algae lubricants, promoting transition towards greener products reducing derived formulations polyalphaolefins esters.
