Financial stress (FS) during young adulthood may have lasting effects on financial security, physical health, and overall wellbeing. This study examines the burden, social determinants mental health consequences of experienced FS among adults in United States, based objective measures stress. We studied aged 18-26 years using pooled data from 2013-18 National Health Interview Survey. was assessed as an aggregate score (6-24) worry about six life tasks: paying for: monthly bills, housing expenses, healthcare, illness/accident, maintaining standard living, saving money for retirement. Individuals highest quartile were defined having high FS. Psychological distress (PD) measured six-item Kessler Distress Scale (K6); PD total K6 ≥13. Multivariable ordinal logistic regression models used to assess key association between PD, respectively. Study sample included 19,821 individuals (34 million annualized). Overall, 17% (5.8 nationally) reported Female, non-Hispanic Black Hispanic, low income/low education, uninsured, non-citizen comorbidities associated with burden. In fully adjusted models, over 6-fold (OR = 6.17, 95% CI 4.43-8.61) higher risk PD. Although the COVID-19 pandemic has caused tremendous disruptions in many college students' lives and increased rates of internalizing symptoms perceived stress, multi-year trends student mental health are still being uncovered. Moreover, very few longitudinal studies investigate changes psychosocial stressors identified by students their own words. The present study addressed these needs literature using self-report data collected from three cohorts (total N = 1,042) recruited across academic years (2020–2023). A mixed-methods approach was used to explore links between quantitative regarding (e.g. depression, anxiety, somatization) qualitative write-in challenges experienced during pandemic. Elevated lower-than-normative levels physical persisted all years, with anxiety somatization most elevated final year. Through data, a wide range challenges, including health, finances, remote learning, linked symptoms. In latter they reported emerging difficulties face-to-face activities lowered confidence one's skills. Findings indicate strong, continuing need for targeted universal intervention, special attention anxiety-related associated late-to-post-pandemic stressors.

Effects of Covid-19-related anxiety on overeating and weight gain in a diverse college sample DOI

The outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic has been linked with caloric overeating and weight gain. We employed a mediation analysis to determine whether pandemic-associated was direct effect Covid-19-related anxiety (affect regulation theory) or mediated by coping mechanism escape eating (escape theory). A diverse pool college students participated in repeated cross-sectional study during three separate waves: May 2021 (wave 1, n = 349), December 2, 253), March 2022 3, 132). results revealed significant indirect on high-caloric eating, but no path between overeating.
