Abstract Climate change's threat to global agriculture, especially cotton production, has led the adoption of mulching as a mitigation strategy. Organic mulches offer environmentally friendly benefits for in challenging environments. A study evaluated various organic mulches' effects on soil properties, yield, and quality semi-arid region with limited water high temperature fluctuations. Results showed that wheat straw, rice, sugarcane leaves straw maintained moderate temperatures (27.3°C 27.4°C), unlike control (41.6°C). Soil pH remained stable (7.9 8.1), raised carbon (0.68% 0.72% vs. 0.51% control). Nutrient availability increased, higher nitrogen (0.045% 0.049%), phosphorus (6.2 mg kg −1 6.5 ), potassium (89 92 ) compared (0.028%, 5.6 , 71 ). matter content rose (0.77% 0.81%) versus (0.51%). Weed density decreased (4 5 weeds m² 23 control) mulches. Cotton height, bolls per plant, open-boll weight increased mulches, elevating yield (2704 ha 2743 over (2117 consistent ginning outturn (36.62% 37.2%). similar, while reduced irrigation frequency (7 irrigations) total amount (533 mm); needed more (9 irrigations, 685 mm). Crop use efficiency improved (0.50 0.51 m −3 0.30 This highlights mulch's potential enhance nutrient availability, weed suppression, efficiency.
