Abstract Purpose Breast cancer (BC) and its treatments significantly impact the psychological wellbeing of women. Interventions offered during survivorship have documented positive consequences for quality life. However, limited evidence is available regarding implementation therapeutic photography. This study investigated efficacy framed portrait experience (FPE) when implemented to BC survivors. Methods A quasi-experimental was conducted. Participants were enrolled in a non-randomized pre-post intervention with comparison group. Forty survivors recruited using convenience sampling approach; these, 20 subsequently allocated (FPE group) assessed at pretest posttest (3 weeks later) self-reported measures body image, coping, self-esteem, self-efficacy. Independent samples t -tests compared group composition pretest. Mixed between-within 2 × repeated-measures ANOVAs examined pretest–posttest changes variables interest. Results No differences detected between groups significant interaction effect on problem-focused emotion-focused self-efficacy competence subscale ( p < 0.05) identified. Post hoc pairwise comparisons Bonferroni correction indicated improvement these domains FPE vs. Additionally, main effects time total score magnitude found. Conclusions Preliminary results support FPE, but further research needed. Implications Cancer Survivors Existential approaches inclusive self-portraits illness narratives can be utilized management illness.

During the oncological care path, breast cancer patients treated with chemotherapy suffer from a number of psycho-physical changes, and appearance-related side effects are among primary determinants psychosocial impairment. Appropriate interventions needed due to fact that treatment-induced transformations have been associated decline in overall quality life, interpersonal sexual difficulties, adverse on therapeutic adherence. In framework integrative oncology, beauty therapy is an affordable straightforward intervention could be used clinical management effects. This study aims comprehend emotional lived experiences women undergoing after brief licensed beauticians. The Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis was as methodological guideline. Sixteen were purposefully recruited day hospital unit, where implemented. At end intervention, data gathered using semi-structured interview open-ended questions. A thematic analysis performed verbatim transcriptions. Findings support proposal for chemotherapy. Assuming relational viewpoint, improve patients’ feelings about themselves way they feel others, even if do not declare specific interest their outward appearance.
