Abstract Associations of adolescents' smartphone use and well‐being have been contradictory. The present study investigates patterns psychosocial risk / protective factors in US adolescents during COVID‐19 examines their associations with depression symptom trajectories from 5 yearly waves beginning prior to the pandemic. Latent profile analyses revealed three profiles, including a high (18.9% adolescents) characterized by elevated social media use, levels risk, low variables. growth mixture modeling identified trajectories; stable low, moderate‐increasing, high‐severely increasing depression. Both moderate‐increasing were associated membership profile. Results highlight impacts type activity rather than per se can inform targeted intervention strategies.

ABSTRACT Background While the Patient‐Reported Outcomes Measurement Information System (PROMIS) global health scales are frequently used to assess individual quality of life, it has yet be validated in gastrointestinal cohorts. Based on Rome Foundation Global Epidemiology Survey, aim this study was conduct most comprehensive psychometric evaluation PROMIS (8‐item and revised 4‐item) across non‐gastrointestinal condition Methods A cross‐sectional survey conducted 26 countries. series confirmatory factor reliability analyses were undertaken groups, that is, Disorders Gut‐Brain Interaction (DGBI) [any DGBI, DGBI anatomic region], gastroesophageal reflux disease, chronic constipation, diarrhea, coeliac diverticulitis, inflammatory bowel cancer anywhere tract, peptic ulcer a group. Convergent validity also assessed via Pearson's correlation coefficients with PHQ‐4 (anxiety depression) PHQ‐12 (somatization). Results 54,040 participants (50.9% male; mean age 44.33 years) analysis indicated poor fit for original Hays et al. 4‐item version scale. The briefer 2‐factor 2‐item model (the alternate model) yielded acceptable all groups. subscales demonstrated strong convergent, content, construct scale groups regions anxiety, depression, somatization. Conclusions & Inferences demonstrates stronger properties compared model. This ultra‐brief assessment instrument is viable tool assessing life

One of the greatest COVID-19 related challenges for children and their families was managing distance learning due to school closures. We also know from previous research that with a child neurodevelopmental disorder such as ADHD or ASD were struggling more than others, but experiences some positive effects. However, few qualitative studies have been conducted. The present study therefore aimed investigate parental negative effects during pandemic in large sample an adolescent and/or matched comparison group (n = 682). Data collected through open-ended questions part larger survey study. Five main themes, different sub-themes identified both effects: 1) Teaching, 2) Social, 3) Support, 4) Child factors, 5) Home environment. In addiction, themes “Technical problems” Families ADHD/ASD reported “Child factors” “Support” frequently controls, well aspects “Teaching” problems”. Regarding effects, significant differences primarily found theme factors”. These findings are discussed botn terms how best prepare possible future pandemics, provide educational support when schools open.

Background: Studies in recent years have shown a significant increase problematic internet use. Prolonged usage negatively impacts various aspects of adolescents’ lifestyles. Methods: The survey was conducted three Lithuanian cities—Vilnius, Klaipėda, and Molėtai—between October December 2023. involved students between the ages 12 16. participants completed questionnaire that included questions about wellness happiness, Internet Addiction Test (IAT), Strengths Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ). Our study aimed to investigate use among adolescents its relationships with wellness, mental health. Results: This 1412 adolescents, mean age 14.41 ± 1.20, sample composed 52.3% boys. Boys indicated they felt healthier happier than girls (69.4% vs. 47.4%; 51.4% 29.6%), p < 0.001. A total 20.8% had IAT scores reflect normal level usage. For IAT, average score statistically significantly higher boys (41.87 12.24 39.96 12.37), group who less happy healthy, more frequent headaches or abdominal pain, problems sleep, significant, positive weak correlation found students’ SDQ internalizing externalizing (r = 0.366; r 0.385, 0.001). Conclusions: is arising as serious problem adolescents. Negative feelings, unhappiness, poor emotion regulation an association addiction. Also, female gender may be associated possible results this can serve initial steps toward developing preventive interventions.

BACKGROUND Artificial intelligence (AI) tools hold much promise for mental healthcare by increasing the scalability and accessibility of care. However, current development evaluation practices AI in limit meaningfulness their contexts thereby, practical usefulness such professionals clients alike. OBJECTIVE To move towards meaningful eMental health, this article demonstrates an monitoring tool that detects need more intensive care online grief intervention older mourners. METHODS We take a three-fold approach (1) using F1-metric to evaluate tool’s capacity classify user parameters, including affect, as (a) support, or (b) recommendable continue is; (2) linear regression assess predictive value users’ parameters clinical changes grief, depression, loneliness over course 10-week intervention. Finally, (3) we collect qualitative experience data from eCoaches (N=4) who incorporated weekly e-mail guidance during RESULTS Based on N=174 binary recommendation decisions, F1-score was 0.91. Due minimal variation depression scores after compared before intervention, only one conducted with difference score dependent variable participants’ mean assessment tool, estimate slope growth curves fitted each participant’s response pattern predictors. Only exhibited observed change (R2 =1.19, SE 0.33, t(df) = 3.58(16), P=.002). The appreciated a) opportunity confirm impression about participant based interview prior b) source personalizing c) detect when health deteriorated CONCLUSIONS Each used comes its own set limitations challenges, skewed class distributions prediction tasks real-life choosing statistical analyses trial designs not targeted at evaluating tools. multiple methods provides good basis drawing clinically conclusions recommendations improving any specific intended context.
