Violence against Emergency Medical Services (EMS) personnel vary between studies. Current studies are mainly based on self-reporting, thus other designs needed to provide more perspective. The purpose of this study was explore the rate and predictors violent behavior targeted at EMS by exploring Electronic patient care records (ePCR) documentation personnel. This a retrospective cohort patients in Finland. data were collected from three regions 1st June 30th November 2018. Text mining manual evaluation used identify violence ePCR narratives. Multivariable logistic regressions determine factors that independently associated with behavior. results presented odds ratios (ORs) 95% confidence intervals (CIs). reported experiences total 297 identified missions (0.7%) all (n = 40,263). mostly verbal (62.3%) most common perpetrator (98.0%). police alarmed many where (40.7%). Sometimes occurred suddenly although present. multivariable regression model indicates typically urban areas (OR 1.699; CI 1.283 2.248), weekend nights 1.357; 1.043 1.765), male 1.501; 1.160 1.942), influenced alcohol 3.464; 2.644 4.538). Emergency medical services (EMS) clinicians are at risk of on-the-job violence that can result in serious injuries. A majority such is associated with underlying behavioral health emergencies. However, no simple screening tools have been validated for use prehospital settings. This study aimed to examine the utility 7-item Aggressive Behavior Risk Assessment Tool Departments (ABRAT-ED) modified settings identifying patients violence. prospective included adult and pediatric aged ≥10 years transported by 2 private EMS agencies between March 11 April 21, 2024. completed ABRAT-ED before initiating transport captured any subsequent physical assault, threat, or sexual harassment using Violent Event Severity Tool. Logistic regression receiver operating characteristics (ROC) analysis were performed. Of 11,292 dispatches, 9,024 evaluable, 105 had ≥1 violent event (1.16 %). The logistic model resulted a 3-item ABRAT-EMS, including agitation, confusion, aggressive/threatening behaviors. ROC showed area under curve 0.89 (95% CI, 0.85-0.94; P < .001). At cutoff score 1, sensitivity specificity 82.9% 74.0%-89.3%) 88.1% 87.4%-88.8%), respectively, indicating ABRAT-EMS would correctly identify while nonviolent patients. brief checklist satisfactory potentially during encounters. help allow implementation proactive, targeted prevention measures.

ABSTRACT Anti‐violence Human Resource Management (HRM) practices can be used as an organizational resource to buffer the effects of violence experienced by frontline workers. This research examines process through which different forms workplace (i.e., physical, verbal, and vicarious) impact how employees cope, thereby their intentions leave profession. Drawing on Conservation Resources (COR) theory, we collected two waves data ( N = 371) from police officers in Victoria, Australia, test our proposed hypotheses. The findings demonstrated that physical violence, verbal abuse, vicarious were positively associated with coping denial. Importantly, denial mediated relationship between officers' intention Finally, anti‐violence HRM buffered indirect effect profession via denial, whereas no was found for abuse. Our results therefore suggest play a pivotal role managing incidents at work against findings' contributions theory practice, well future research, are discussed.
