MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are highly conserved, small non-coding RNA molecules (∼21 nucleotides) that regulate numerous biological processes, including developmental timing, hematopoiesis, organogenesis, apoptosis, cell differentiation, and proliferation either by mRNA degradation or translation repression. Since eye physiology requires a perfect orchestration of complex regulatory networks, an altered expression key such as miRNAs potentially leads to disorders. In recent years, comprehensive progress has been made in demonstrating the precise roles miRNAs, emphasizing their potential use diagnostic therapeutic purposes chronic human diseases. Thus, this review explicitly illustrates four common disorders, cataract, glaucoma, macular degeneration, uveitis, application disease management.

Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD), a hepatic form of metabolic syndrome, often co-occurs with type 2 diabetes (T2D) and now affects approximately 30% the global population. MASLD encompasses conditions from simple steatosis to steatohepatitis, oxidative stress (OS) driving progression through inflammation. This study analyzes expression levels circulating miRNAs redox status markers in patients without T2D, exploring their potential as biomarkers. The expressions miR-21, miR-34a, miR-122 were analyzed platelet-poor plasma 147 participants, divided into three groups: + T2D (48), (50), control group (49). Total oxidant (TOS), total antioxidant (TAS), ischemia-modified albumin (IMA), superoxide anion radical (O2•−) measured serum plasma. Logistic regression showed that TOS, TAS, O2•−, IMA positive predictors MASLD, while miR-21 TAS negative MASLD. Although did not show significant association either condition, combination miR-34a other such lipid enzymes, new predictor was identified. Circulating markers, enzymes

microRNAs are small oligonucleotides involved in post-transcriptional gene regulation whose alteration is found several diseases, including cancer, and therefore their detection crucial for diagnosis, prognosis, treatment purposes. Field-Effect Transistor-based biosensors (bioFETs) represent a promising technology the clinical of microRNAs. However, one main challenges associated with this Debye screening, becoming significant at high ionic strengths required effective hybridization. We aimed detecting oncogenic microRNA-155 by using bioFET system as capture element complementary RNA probe (antimiR-155) combined introduction PEG molecules (20 kDa, PEG20), an strength 300 mM. optimized co-immobilization ratio between antimiR-155 PEG20 assessed its impact on interactions oligonucleotides. The kinetics can be well described Langmuir-Freundlich isotherm affinity constant within range typical nucleic acid interactions. significantly enhanced sensitivity miR-155 reaching level less than 200 pM, together excellent discrimination against other clinically relevant Our findings demonstrate that incorporation constitutes strategy to mitigate screening effects facilitates bioFET-based applications physiological strengths.

Antiseizure medication (ASM) induced metabolic syndrome (AIMetS) is a common adverse drug reaction (ADR) of pharmacotherapy for epilepsy and psychiatric disorders. However, the sensitivity specificity blood biomarkers may be insufficient due to influence combined pathology, concomitant diseases, peculiarities metabolism ASMs in patients with epilepsy. Methods: The presented results experimental clinical studies microRNAs (miRs) as epigenetic MetS AIMetS, which were entered into different databases, analyzed last decade (2014-2024). Results: A systematic review demonstrated that miRs can act promising key AIMetS domains. variable role various their paralogs pathogenesis AIMetS. A subclass of miRNAs with as yet unknown specific functions is mitomiRs – mitochondrial that are mainly derived from nuclear DNA and imported into mitochondria; moreover, changes in the expression levels associated some diseases. To identify most pronounced characteristics distinguish them other miRNAs, we classified mitomiR sequences using Random Forest algorithm. The analysis revealed, for first time, a significant difference between microRNAs by following criteria (in descending order importance classification): evolutionarily older (have lower phylostratigraphic age index, PAI); have more targets disease associations, including ones (twosided Fisher’s exact test, average p -values 1.82×10 –89 /1.13×10 –96 all mRNA/diseases 6.01×10 –22 /1.09×10 –9 mitochondria, respectively); class “circulating” (average pvalue 1.20×10 –56 ). identified differences may help uncover mode miRNA delivery indicate evolutionary conservation regulation function metabolism, generally show not randomly encountered miRNAs. Objectives: Vulvar squamous cell carcinoma (VSCC) is a rare gynecologic malignancy, with most cases arising from differentiated vulvar intraepithelial neoplasia (dVIN). Approximately one-third of VSCC originate high-grade lesions (HSILs), which are associated persistent infection by varieties high-risk human papillomavirus (hrHPV). This study aimed to quantify the circulating microRNAs (miRNAs) in plasma patients premalignant conditions (dVIN and HSILs) using TaqMan Low-Density Arrays. Methods: Plasma samples were collected 40 patients, including those treated for HSILs, dVIN, VSCC. Quantitative real-time PCR (qRT-PCR) identified miRNAs differentially expressed compared precancerous lesions. Results: A total 31 (DEMs) found be significantly upregulated cases. None analyzed able distinguish based on hrHPV tumor status. Conclusions: provides strong evidence that distinct set can differentiate between Thus, these DEMs have potential diagnostic prognostic value. "Predisposing" could developed as biomarkers aid assessment lesions, helping exclude or confirm progression toward cancer.

In this study, we profiled miRNAs umbilical cord plasma (UCP) to explore the association neonatal circulating with maternal metabolic parameters anthropometric, inflammatory characteristics healthy pregnancies. Data UCP samples were collected from 16 pregnancies, equally divided between normal-weight overweight mothers male female newborns. Using next-generation sequencing, identified quantified UCP, alongside analysis parameters. Our results revealed that majority sensitive characteristics, particularly body mass index, gestational weight gain, placental weight, leptin, C-reactive protein insulin levels. Notably, a strong placenta-derived chromosome 19 microRNA cluster (C19MC) weight.
