Long COVID-19, characterized by persistent symptoms following acute COVID-19 infection, presents a multifaceted challenge. Recent research has unveiled the potential role of gut microbiota in shaping course COVID, offering insights into its consequences and therapeutic avenues. Dysbiosis microbiota, marked reduction beneficial commensal bacteria an increase pro-inflammatory taxa, appears to be common feature Long-term COVID patients. Notably, composition correlates with symptom severity duration, suggesting link between microbiome COVID's clinical manifestations. Various interventions, such as antibiotics, probiotics, dietary modulation, have been explored strategies mitigate dysbiosis effects on COVID-19. Parallels myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS) drawn, indicating shared mechanisms, including involvement. Longitudinal studies highlight persistence alterations beyond phase emphasizing need for long-term monitoring interventions. While these findings offer promise, standardized comprehensive is essential establish causality elucidate intricate mechanisms underlying microbiota's influence COVID. Understanding this relationship holds develop novel approaches managing improving outcomes, addressing pressing public health concern.

Mitochondria are crucial organelles that regulate cellular energy metabolism, calcium homeostasis, and oxidative stress responses, playing pivotal roles in brain development neurodegeneration. Concurrently, the gut microbiota has emerged as a key modulator of physiology pathology through microbiota-gut-brain axis. Recent evidence suggests an intricate crosstalk between mitochondrial function, mediated by microbial metabolites can influence activities brain. This review aims to provide comprehensive overview emerging role mitochondria critical mediators axis, shaping health neurological disease pathogenesis. We discuss how such short-chain fatty acids, secondary bile tryptophan metabolites, trimethylamine N-oxide traverse blood-brain barrier modulate processes including production, regulation, mitophagy, neurons glial cells. Additionally, we proposed targeting diet, prebiotics, probiotics, or promising potential therapeutic approach maintain optimizing fitness. Overall, further investigations into its bioenergetics, dynamics, responses will valuable insights axis both states.

Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is an innovative treatment that has recently been approved for clinical use and holds promise cancer patients. It offers several benefits, such as low systemic toxicity, minimal invasiveness, the ability to stimulate antitumor immune responses. For certain types of cancer, it shown positive results with few side effects. However, PDT still faces some challenges, including limited light penetration into deeper tumor tissues, uneven distribution photosensitizer (PS) can also affect healthy cells, difficulties posed by hypoxic microenvironment (TME). In conditions, PDT's effectiveness reduced due insufficient production reactive oxygen species, which limits destruction lead relapse. This review highlights recent advances in photosensitizers nanotechnologies are being developed improve PDT. focuses on multifunctional nanoplatforms nanoshuttles have preclinical studies, especially treating solid tumors. One key areas focus development PSs specifically target mitochondria treat deep-seated malignant New mitochondria-targeting nano-PSs designed better water solubility extended wavelength ranges, allowing them tumors more effectively, even challenging, environments. These advancements opening new doors treatment, when combined other therapeutic strategies. Moving forward, research should optimizing PDT, creating efficient drug delivery systems, developing smarter platforms. Ultimately, these efforts aim make a first-choice option

Patients with Post-viral long hauler encompass lasting symptoms and comorbid complexities, often exacerbated in individuals excessive body weight. The aim was to study gut microbiota 130 patients post-viral stratified by mass index (BMI) the relationship between inflammation microbiota. Significant higher values were found for anthropometric variables markers of glucose dyslipidemia BMI, as well elevated levels C-reactive protein, fibrinogen, IL-6, uric acid, D-dimer. An interactive association showed an interplay Faecalibacterium, D-dimer levels, insulin resistance. This investigation that anthropometric, biochemical, inflammatory impaired haulers BMI. In addition, differences groups a modification effect on Faecalibacterium abundance regarding resistance These findings suggest considering adiposity structure composition may improve personalized clinical interventions chronic inflammation.

Context: Long COVID, a condition that persists after the acute phase of COVID-19, poses significant burden, with 10 - 45% recovered patients experiencing persistent symptoms. Among these, approximately 46% report musculoskeletal pain. This narrative review explores potential connections between gut microbiota, and pain, aiming to introduce new therapeutic avenues preventive strategies for managing symptoms in COVID patients. Evidence Acquisition: A comprehensive search was conducted using Google Scholar, Lens.org, ConnectedPaper.com identify relevant articles published 2019 2024. Keywords related pain were used. Articles selected based on predefined inclusion exclusion criteria, their quality assessed. Data from synthesized provide an overview interplay Results: Recent research highlights role microbiota modulating immune responses systemic inflammation. Dysbiosis has been linked severity progression COVID-19 persistence Individuals often experience new-onset manifestations, such as joint myalgia, chronic Additionally, dysbiosis associated conditions like lower back knee osteoarthritis. suggests relationship problems general may also extend patients, indicating broader implications outcomes. Therapeutic targeting probiotics, prebiotics, dietary interventions, have shown promise these improving overall health Conclusions: The evidence underscores importance understanding microbiota-musculoskeletal nexus COVID. Gut contributes inflammation, exacerbating associations other emphasize need microbiota-targeted strategies.
