Background: This study explores wound healing and the antimicrobial potential of a natural formulation containing polysaccharide extract from Cerioporus squamosus, hyaluronic acid, dexpanthenol. Methods: Wound effects were assessed using HaCaT keratinocytes, while activity was evaluated against human skin pathogens microdilution assay. In vitro cytotoxicity tests ensured safety, whereas in vivo further investigated an animal model. Gene expression analysis performed to assess molecular mechanisms involved. Results: The unique glucan composition C. squamosus (15.38% α-glucans 7.91% β-glucans) deviated typical mushroom profiles, warranting exploration its bioactivity. polysaccharides promoted 25.35% closure after 24 hours, three-component achieved 35.81% closure. Antibacterial showed minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) 0.44–1.75 mg/mL bactericidal (MBCs) 0.88–3.50 mg/mL, antifungal ranged 0.22 0.44 (MICs) 0.88 (minimum fungicidal concentration—MFC). data that 60% treated wounds fully closed by day 11, despite no statistically significant difference control. However, gene highlighted VEGF collagen upregulation, indicating enhancement on level. Conclusions: novel demonstrated consistent properties, supporting as safe effective treatment for chronic acute wounds.

Pterygium is a condition affecting the ocular surface, marked by triangular-shaped growth of fibrotic tissue extending from nasal conjunctiva toward corneal center, potentially causing visual impairment. While ultraviolet (UV )light exposure primary risk factor for pterygium, its underlying cause remains unclear. In order to better understand true genesis pterygium development, we investigated and compared it with healthy controls. Given eye's direct environmental exposure, analyzed microbiota composition using metagenomic sequencing identify microbes associated this condition. Metagenomic revealed higher prevalence fungus Malassezia restricta in five samples, confirmed situ hybridization. The CHIT1 gene, which plays role antifungal defenses, displayed highest expression samples controls, suggesting potential involvement development. Gene profiling highlighted an IL-33 IL-4 gene signature, along increased presence M2 macrophages, emphasizing their promoting fibrosis-a hallmark feature pterygium. detection molecular changes provides novel insights into microbiome raises possibility Malassezia's pathology.

The skin plays a crucial role in the body's homeostasis through its thermoregulation functions, metabolic activity, and, mainly, barrier function. Once this system has disturbed, promotion of tissue discontinuity, an injury happens and restoration process starts. Different products can be used to promote, accelerate, or stimulate healing process, such as hydrogels, emulsions, ointments (main conventional formulations). Despite historical use wide market consumer acceptance, new systems emerged for wound management with main challenge overcome form limitations, which nanosystems are found, mainly nanobased emulsion forms (nano- microemulsions, NE ME). Here, we discuss function highlighting cellular molecular processes, different classifications, factors that affect physiological healing. We also investigated recent patents (2012-2023) filed at United States Patent Trademark Office, where found few (hydrogels = 5; emulsions 4; 6) but larger number time (NE 638; ME 4,072). Furthermore, address ME) their particularities, differences, application treatment. This work discusses challenges, bottlenecks, regulatory framework nanosystems, industrial, academic, government interest nanotechnology, future perspectives about key factor acceptance.

ABSTRACT The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects a high‐capillarity dressing on chronic wound healing, using hyperspectral imaging assess biophysical parameters. This quasi‐experimental pilot involved eight adults with ulcers treated for 4 weeks. Primary outcomes included pH, temperature, and oxygen saturation, measured imaging, along area assessed ImageJ. Secondary quality life, evaluated EQ‐5D‐5L Wound QoL‐17 scales. Data were collected at baseline, 7, 14, 21 days, analysed SPSS. Results showed significant reduction in lesion size ( p < 0.05) pain 0.001) following treatment. Biophysical assessments revealed decrease pH = 0.004), but no changes observed other parameters (oxygen NIR, TWI, TLI). A correlation found between saturation 0.005). results suggest that improves healing by reducing size, promoting acidification, improving superficial oxygenation. Additionally, controlled edema eliminated infection signs without antibiotics, suggesting its potential optimising environment. These findings highlight need further research into clinical application management.
