Background/Objectives: Thus far, no studies have examined the relationship between fruit and vegetable (F V) intake, urinary metabolite quantities, weight change. Therefore, aim of current study was to explore changes in metabolomic profiles during after a 10-week loss intervention where participants were prescribed high F V diet (7 servings daily). Methods: Adults with overweight obesity (n = 34) received medical nutrition therapy counselling increase their intakes national targets day). Data collection included weight, dietary urine samples at baseline week 2 10. Urinary quantified using 1H NMR spectroscopy. Machine learning statistical approaches employed identify novel urine-based biomarkers associated patterns weeks Metabolic appearing response Metabolite Set Enrichment Analysis (MSEA). Results: Energy intake significantly lower (p 0.02) 10 compared baseline. Total higher < 0.05). In total, 123 metabolites quantified. At 10, 21 showed significant relative Of these, 11 also changed 2. These overlapping acetic acid, dimethylamine, choline, fumaric glutamic L-tyrosine, histidine, succinic uracil, histamine, 2-hydroxyglutarate. Abstract Background The rising use of antidepressants is critical for managing mental health disorders, but weight gain a concerning side effect, particularly with certain classes like TCAs and SSRIs. This study aims to investigate changes in Omani patients prescribed paroxetine, fluoxetine, mirtazapine, or venlafaxine. Method A cross-sectional conducted from January June 2023 at Sultan Qaboos University Hospital recruited adults disorders on these medications. Weight measurements were taken baseline follow-up, clinically significant defined as ≥ 7% increase. Results total 135 participants analyzed, showing mean 5.54 kg, 60.7% experiencing gain. Mirtazapine paroxetine exhibited the highest average increases (7.51 kg 8.05 respectively) compared fluoxetine (0.69 kg) venlafaxine (4.32 kg). No demographic factors influenced ( p = 0.213). Conclusion highlights among antidepressants, mirtazapine paroxetine. underscores importance monitoring clinical practice necessitates further investigations into individualized treatment strategies manage both weight-related concerns.

Jiawei Kongsheng Zhenzhong Pill(JKZP) is based on Pill contained in the Tang Dynasty's "Thousand Golden Prescriptions," which exhibited good anti-ischemic and antidepressant effects previous study. However, its specific post-stroke depression (PSD) mechanism are not clear. This study aimed to investigate of JKZP treatment PSD related mechanisms. The decoction was first analyzed for medicinal chemical composition screened representative components JKZP. Middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO) method combined with solitary rearing chronic unpredictable mild stress (CUMS) used establish a rat model PSD, observe behavior synaptic plasticity rats, by detecting mRNA level, protein expression activity Netrin-1/DCC signaling pathway-related proteins. results showed that loganin, β-asarone other pharmaceutical ingredients, have been reported protect against ischemic injury effects. significantly improved depression-like rats damage pyramidal neurons medial prefrontal cortex (mPFC) rats. Moreover, increased density dendritic spines mPFC gap width thickness post-synaptic density, number vesicles. Real-Time quantitative reverse transcription PCR (qRT-PCR), Western blotting, pull-down assays revealed netrin-1, deleted colorectal cancer (DCC), focal adhesion kinase (FAK) expression, elevated p-FAK/FAK ratio, decreased myosin II Ras homolog gene family member A (RhoA-GTP) Taken together, can affect structural remodeling improve depressive manifestations neuronal regulating molecules netrin-1/DCC pathway.

Abstract The emergence of cancer-causing bacteria and viruses that have become resistant to either antibiotics or viral treatment is often attributed their overuse in people livestock. Intriguingly, the class antidepressant drugs, such as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), may also contribute generating microorganisms with a profound disturbing role local cervix-vagina homeostasis. Therefore, we proposed possible involvement SSRIs onset growth cervical cancer (CC), which based on some empirical considerations, (i) number women diagnosed post-menopausal CC almost equivalent depressive problems, (ii) proven affection both vaginal intestinal microbiota, (iii) essential microbiota immune response against oncogenic pathogens, including human papillomavirus Chlamydia trachomatis ( C. ), (IV) favoring rise antibiotic-resistant microorganisms, (V) inhibitory effect estradiol-serotonin-prolactin axis. These features are important overproduction reactive oxygen species, responsible for different harmful activities higher cell membrane permeability porosity, hyperstimulation transcription, translational activities, overall stress check-point genes involved ATP synthesis, DNA breaks, abnormal mutations. This paper's results suggested reconsidering efficacy long-term use since increase prescriptions mainly due rather than diagnoses per se, secondly little known about consequences use. evidence supports drugs increasing risk was searched discussed.

The coexistence of depression and type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) can significantly worsen disease prognosis lower quality life. Emerging evidence suggests that vitamin D deficiency contributes to the progression T2DM is closely associated with development depression. aim this study was investigate effects cholecalciferol on in patients T2DM, exploring its mechanisms by analyzing impact C-peptide, serotonin, neurotrophin-3 levels. A double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled clinical trial conducted at Cipto Mangunkusumo General Hospital, Jakarta, Indonesia, from April 2021 September 2022. Patients depressive symptoms were randomly assigned two groups: received 4000 IU daily a placebo for 12 weeks. Depression assessed using Beck Inventory-II (BDI-II) before weeks after intervention. levels measured end fourth week intervention enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) method. Between-group comparisons made independent Student t-tests Mann-Whitney U tests. Paired or Wilcoxon tests applied within-group between pre- post-intervention. total 70 included study, comprising 38 group 32 group. C-peptide increased compared (p=0.006). No significant differences observed serotonin NT-3 had greater reduction BDI-II scores (p<0.001). This highlights taking might help ease mild moderate enhancing c-peptide levels, though are still unclear.
