Sarcopenia, defined as the progressive loss of muscle mass, strength, and function, is largely prevalent but still clinically underrecognized among patients undergoing chronic dialysis therapy. The pathogenesis involves a complex interplay inflammation, oxidative stress, metabolic acidosis, hormonal imbalances, protein waste, malnutrition, reduced physical activity. This multifactorial condition profoundly impairs quality life may lead to significant clinical consequences, including frailty, an increased risk falls hospitalization, elevated mortality. Despite its relevance, sarcopenia often remains underdiagnosed due inconsistent diagnostic criteria challenges in assessing body composition populations. Therapeutic strategies, tailored exercise programs, nutritional interventions, pharmacological treatments, are essential mitigate improve patient outcomes. Early identification routine assessment practice could play pivotal role enhancing management patients. A multidisciplinary, personalized approach necessary address diverse factors contributing overall prognosis for this vulnerable population.

Sarcopenia is a condition characterized by the loss of muscle mass and function. It risk factor for adverse clinical outcomes, including falls, disability, mortality in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD). The progression CKD leads to metabolic disturbances pathophysiological changes. These alterations, such as acidosis, dysregulated proteostasis, excessive inflammation, contribute accelerated wasting, resulting sarcopenia. Proper nutritional interventions are essential management sarcopenia CKD. Appropriate dietary intake protein specific micronutrients, carefully considering needs restrictions CKD, may help maintain Specific patterns, an anti-inflammatory diet, Dietary Approaches Stop Hypertension plant-based be beneficial attenuating wasting patients. underlying mechanisms how these patterns affect multifaceted, oxidative stress, defects homeostasis. This review summarizes current evidence on relationship between sarcopenia, well modulate

We employed a meta-analysis to investigate the risk factors associated with sarcopenia in patients undergoing dialysis. conducted search PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, and Web of Science databases. Inclusion criteria included case-control cohort studies on for dialysis patients. The period spanned from inception each database September 20, 2024. quality was assessed using Newcastle-Ottawa Scale (NOS). Data analysis performed Stata 15.0. A total 625 articles were screened, 610 excluded based predefined eligibility criteria, resulting 15 involving 2904 individuals final analysis, results indicate that older [SMD = 0.76, 95% CI (0.54, 0.99), I2 81%, P 0.001], those lower BMI -0.50, (-0.80, -0.20), I2% 87.4%, 0.02], SMI -2.67, (-3.87, -1.47), 98.2%, diabetes [OR 1.43, (1.13, 1.82), 48.8%, 0.03] are more likely develop sarcopenia. Based current research, our study found elderly patients, BMI, SMI, diabetic These findings highlight necessity early intervention these high-risk groups. However, has limitations. Future research should address limitations mechanisms linking targeted prevention treatment strategies.

Pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) is a common infectious of the female upper reproductive tract, and its pathological basis immune response. The imbalance gut microflora (GM) may lead to development process. A large number studies have shown that fecal microbiota transplantation, probiotics, bacteria, prebiotics, dietary intervention play potential role in remodeling GM treating diseases. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are involved cell development, proliferation, apoptosis other physiological processes. In addition, they an important process, participating regulation proinflammatory anti-inflammatory pathways. Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a progressive condition linked to sarcopenia, syndrome characterized by loss of skeletal muscle mass and strength, affecting quarter CKD patients globally. Sarcopenia has multiple paths through which it can worsen morbidity mortality as well decrease the quality life in CKD, including systemic inflammation, hormonal imbalances, metabolic changes, dysbiosis gut microbiota. There regional variation criteria set for diagnosis, with two main groups being European Working Group on Older People Asian Sarcopenia. Management regimes such nutritional optimization, vitamin D, exercise, correction acidosis, modulation microbiota constitute effective intervention strategies. Emerging therapeutic options include anabolic agents, myostatin inhibitors, anti-inflammatory treatment options. Future advances genomics, proteomics, personalized medicine will open up new avenues addressing complex pathophysiology sarcopenia. Hence, comprehensive multidisciplinary approach focused specific needs each patient be vital reducing effects sarcopenia improving situation people CKD.
