Climate change poses significant threats to agriculture globally, particularly in arid and semi-arid regions where drought stress (DS) is most severe, disrupting ecosystems constraining progress horticulture. Roses, valued for their aesthetic appeal, are highly susceptible abiotic stresses, especially DS, which markedly reduces flower quantity quality. Under DS conditions, roses exhibit diverse morphological, physiological, biochemical, molecular adaptations that vary across species. This review examines the effects of on rose growth, yield, physiological traits, including gas exchange, photosynthesis, phytohormone dynamics, water nutrient relationships, alongside biochemical responses. Furthermore, impacts biosynthesis secondary metabolites, notably reducing yield quality essential oils roses, critical commercial value perfumery aromatherapy. Additionally, impact post-harvest longevity assessed. By elucidating these responses, this provides a framework understanding offers insights develop strategies mitigating its adverse impacts.
