Marker-assisted breeding (MAB) is revolutionizing the cultivation of horticultural crops by enabling more accurate genetic selection desired traits. Unlike traditional methods, which depend heavily on selecting traits based visible characteristics, a process often hindered complex inheritance patterns and environmental influences, MAB uses molecular markers tied to specific genes. This allows breeders efficiently identify choose plants with features. has significantly accelerated for like disease resistance, higher yields, enhanced nutritional visual qualities. It also reduces time needed cycles; while methods may require multiple generations achieve traits, can confirm presence beneficial genes early, speeding up development improved varieties. particularly crucial in addressing challenges climate change, where must quickly adapt stressors such as drought, salinity, temperature fluctuations. In essence, represents major advancement crop development, increasing precision efficiency efforts. plays vital role creating suited market needs, helping tackle global issues food security, change resilience, sustainable farming. positions horticulture better meet evolving consumer expectations agricultural demands.

Juglans regia L. is an edible fruit tree cultivated worldwide for its fruits and wood as urban tree. Globally, there growing concern preserving the genetic diversity of trees with high economic ecological value. This study investigates J. in landscapes assesses quality walnut kernels a local food product. An inventory 150 from five populations public green spaces Lugoj, Caransebeș Jupa, well two semi-natural hilly ecosystems Banat Region, was conducted. Molecular analyses showed that Directed Amplification Minisatellite-region DNA (DAMD) markers were more effective than Start Codon Targeted (SCoT) markers, higher average polymorphism 56.26%, compared to 49.44%. DAMD07 achieved 100% DAMD05 strong balance between P.I.C. (0.35) (54.54%). Chemical analysis revealed following contents kernels: protein (12.81% 16.80%), lipids (60.39% 69.08%), total polyphenols (5484.66 10,788.4 mg GAE/kg), copper (3.655 8.532 mg/kg), manganese (14.408 28.618 zinc (19.813 46.583 lead (1.204 2.27 mg/kg) cadmium (0.03451 0.08065 mg/kg). These findings are critical conservation efforts, forestry management ensuring safety products derived regia.

Panax notoginseng (Burkill) F. H. Chen, as a traditional Chinese medicinal herb with significant therapeutic effects, is highly sensitive to environmental factors during its growth process, particularly light and water conditions. Under field conditions, natural limitations make it difficult achieve optimal yield quality. This study aimed in the past determine light–water interaction model for year-round cultivation of P. controlled plant factory environment. The experiment used one-year-old, uniformly grown notoginsen seedlings. At beginning experiment, source, without any shading treatment, provided photosynthetically active radiation (PAR) intensity 200 μmol·m−2·s−1, measured at distance 30 cm from canopy. A total 18 treatment combinations were established, specifically two different quality treatments (A Treatment red-to-blue ratio 4:1 B 5:1) each combined three irrigation levels (field capacities 40%, 50%, 60%) (one layer 60% net, layers net). Each was all levels, resulting distinct combinations. effects interactions on evaluated by measuring key agronomic traits, chlorophyll fluorescence parameters, ginsenoside content. results indicate that significantly affect content (light had more impact than treatment). best performance terms height (15.3 cm), stem diameter (3.45 mm), leaf length (8.6 fresh weight (3.382 g), (3.8%) observed when Treatment), capacity level layers. Based this, Pearson correlation analysis identify eight correlated indicators, entropy-weighted TOPSIS applied comprehensively evaluate schemes. evaluation show scheme under conditions three-layer shading.

Saffron (Crocus sativus L.) is one of the most expensive spices in world. Saffron, prized for its vibrant color, aroma, and taste, essential food industry traditional medicine. Its culinary uses, therapeutic benefits, potential antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anticancer properties highlight significant importance. genetic diversity has implications cultivation quality. In this study, among 76 saffron accessions, collected from 13 localities Taliouin region Morocco, were evaluated using sequence-related amplified polymorphism (SRAP) markers. A total 63 polymorphic fragments produced with an average number bands per primer 10.5 10.16, respectively. Most variations localities, revealed by Analysis Molecular Variance, originated within accessions differentiation (81%; p < 0.010). Cluster Analysis, Principal Coordinate (PCoA), population structure confirmed main groups corroborated homogeneity across accessions. fact, close relationships between different locations, showing that there was no relationship divergence geographical locality. This investigation represents a pivotal advance towards fostering sustainable development bolstering economic empowerment farming communities Morocco.

Drought is one of the most environmental stressors, significantly affecting wheat production, particularly in face accelerating climate change. Therefore, developing drought-resistant, high-yielding varieties essential to ensure sustainable production and maintain global food security as world population rapidly grows. This study aimed evaluate genetic variation local imported bread genotypes through simple sequence repeat (SSR) markers assess their combining ability identify top-performing under both normal drought-stress environments. SSR revealed significant diversity among parental genotypes, which were utilized develop 28 F1 crosses utilizing diallel mating design. Field trials well-watered drought-stressed environments demonstrated that drought reduced all measured agronomic traits. The categorized into five clusters based on tolerance, ranging from highly sensitive (group-E) robustly drought-resistant (group-A). variety Sids-12 (P2) was identified an excellent combiner for breeding shorter early-maturing cultivars Line-117 (P3), Line-144 (P4), Line-123 (P5) improving grain yield related traits conditions. P1×P5, P3×P8, P4×P5, P6×P7 possessed superior performance Key traits, including plant height, grains per spike, 1,000-grain weight, spikes plant, displayed strong correlations with yield, providing effective approach indirect selection drought-prone
