Predictive Factors of Anxiety and Depression in Patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus

Background:
Diabetes
mellitus
(DM)
is
a
chronic
condition
associated
with
multiple
complications
and
comorbidities.
Some
of
these
comorbidities
are
anxiety
depression,
negative
impact
on
the
quality
life,
non-adherence
to
treatment,
poor
prognosis.
The
main
aim
this
study
was
evaluate
depression
in
group
patients
DM
their
life
identify
factors
that
improve
prognosis
increase
expectancy
DM.
Methods:
A
total
209
type
2
(T2DM)
were
enrolled
cross-sectionally.
Patients
screened
for
psychiatric
disorders,
cognitive
impairment,
metabolic
parameters.
Results:

Objectives:
To
evaluate
the
quality
of
life
(QoL)
in
a
group
patients
with
type
2
diabetes
(T2DM)
and
to
identify
predictive
factors
apply
necessary
measures
improve
it.
Methods:
For
this,
299
T2DM
were
enrolled
cross-sectional
study,
their
QoL
was
assessed
using
EQ-5D-3L
questionnaire.
All
underwent
clinical
exams,
routine
laboratory
tests,
nerve
conduction
velocity
(NCV)
at
common
peroneal
nerve.
Results:
Patients
had
median
age
66
(57;
70)
years,
duration
10
(6;
15)
HbA1c
8
(7;
9.3)%,
mean
score
55%.
In
addition,
9.7%
presented
extreme
difficulty
mobility,
18.5%
severe
self-care,
16.4%
usual
activities.
One-third
pain
or
discomfort,
anxiety,
depression
(level
3
EQ-5D-3L).
DPN,
heart
failure
(HF),
cerebral
stroke,
insulin
therapy
increased
likelihood
reduced
(EQ-5D-3L
<
50).
The
inversely
correlated
serum
creatinine,
glycemic
control,
lipid
profile,
duration,
age,
pain/discomfort,
activities,
anxiety/depression
positively
NCV,
HDLc,
eGFR.
Conclusions:
Preventing
neuropathic
complications,
chronic
kidney
disease,
HF
obtaining
targets
could
T2DM.
