Aims Candidiasis, caused by Candida spp. is an opportunistic infection with significant healthcare risks, worsened trends in antifungal resistance. This study aimed to evaluate the susceptibility profile, investigate resistance mechanisms, assess efflux pump activity, and examine biocide tolerance clinical isolates.

Background The increasing incidence and high mortality rate of Candida glabrata infection in ICU patients is an important issue. Therefore, it imperative to investigate the antifungal susceptibility profiles epidemiological characteristics local regions. Methods Herein, testing was conducted determine minimum inhibitory concentrations (MICs) eight drugs. Multilocus sequence typing (MLST) used study strain genotype, geographical distribution, agents among C. isolates. mechanism echinocandin resistance explored by sequencing FKS1 FKS2 genes (encoding 1,3-β-D-glucan synthases) echinocandin-resistant strains. Moreover, we further investigated clinical manifestations various risk factors infected with ICU. Results We selected 234 C . isolates from randomly for follow-up study. Cross-resistance found Analysis using MLST showed that genetic diversity low. Furthermore, type no correlation profiles, but associated distribution. also revealed novel mutations (S629P) (W1497stop) mediated high-level (MIC >8 µg/mL). More than 14 days’ stay (P=0.007), Acute Physiology Chronic Health Evaluation II (APACHE-II) score (P=0.024), prior exposure (P=0.039) lung disease (P=0.036) were significantly resistant/non-wild-type infection. Conclusion Our shed light on susceptibility, molecular epidemiology, a Chinese Tertiary Hospital. Importantly, resistance. These results highlight significance continued surveillance ICUs provide data support treatment clinics.

Yeasts are widely known for their application in food production, but also because of clinical significance. As human pathogens, several species yeasts, mainly the genus Candida, responsible a great number life-threatening infections. The occurrence yeasts cheeses, including pathogenic species, has been largely studied, yet antifungal susceptibility these microorganisms is rarely reported. Here, we identified and determined profile 45 Candida isolates recovered from artisanal cheeses 20 cities Boyacá, Colombia. Among Candida lambica (28.9%) prevailed, followed by krusei (24.4%), kefyr (22.2%), lusitaniae (11.1%), inconspicua (6.7%) parapsilosis (4.4%) guillermondii (2.2%). Notably, all seven have globally reported, to greater or lesser extent, cause fungemia other invasive infections with high mortality rates. Remarkably, most C. lambica C. krusei, were resistant fluconazole, one common drugs treat candidiasis. Our findings highlight importance exploring ecological niches together susceptibility, considering that emergence resistance non-commensal opportunistic pathogens poses serious threat public health.
