Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) can gain a competitive advantage by implementing business model innovation (BMI), which is characterized as irreversible changes to company’s model. However, BMI often associated with high risk, uncertainty, ambiguity. In this study, the effectiveness of on improving SME performance examined using structural equation modeling (SEM) based data collected from 330 Chinese SMEs. The purpose paper examine how enterprise risk management (ERM), organizational agility (OA), entrepreneurial orientation (EO) affect performance. results reveal that ERM, OA, EO all have positive impact efficiency-centered performance; mediates pathway. Building dynamic capabilities theory, combines into one framework assess their Additionally, case study presented provide suggestions for making decisions about implementation.

Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) are responsible for 90% of all business 50% employment globally, mostly female jobs. Therefore, measuring SMEs' performance under the digital transformation (DT) through methods that encompass sustainability represents an essential tool reducing poverty gender inequality (United Nations Sustainable Development Goals). We aimed to describe analyze state-of-art evaluations in SMEs, mainly focusing on measurement. Also, we determine whether tools three pillars (environmental, social, economic). Through a systematic literature review (SLR), search Web Science (WoS) Scopus resulted acceptance 74 peer-reviewed papers published until December 2021. Additionally, bibliometrics investigation was executed. Although there no time restriction, oldest paper 2016, indicating DT is new research topic with increasing interest. Purpose Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) significantly contribute to economic growth, development, exports employment of the nations. To maintain competitiveness in today's market, SMEs must explore identify enablers enhance their digital transformation process. This paper aims shed light on some essential can use implement resilience successfully. Design/methodology/approach The quantitative assessment validation have been done using powerful novel techniques, namely, Delphi method, “fuzzy interpretive structural modelling” (F-ISM) method “cross-impact matrix multiplication applied classification (MICMAC)” analysis. F-ISM model is developed information drawn from experts practitioners involved process for SMEs. Furthermore, provides four paths complete pathway resilience. Findings MICMAC analysis revealed ways These utilise these path assessments become digitally resilient present dynamic scenario. among SMEs, study identified ten enablers. Among these, “management competencies” was most crucial, followed by “knowledge management” “monitoring controlling”. Research limitations/implications limited that data used develop models were collected a small group industry whose opinions may not exhibit comprehensive views population. Practical implications findings help taking up different pathways integrate various depending resource availability. Originality/value results indicate critical influential enhancing research be valuable academicians, researchers guiding future work.
