The aim of this study was to compare the photocatalytic activity ZnO and four inexpensive TiO2-based pigments in degradation tetracyclines, beta-lactams, sulfonamides non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. TiO2-P25 (Aeroxide®) used as reference standard catalyst. For selected drugs, kinetics were determined, intermediates identified. Efficient drug observed presence TiO2 containing only anatase. pigment a mixture anatase rutile practically inactive. had highest activity, higher than standard. other found be less active However, use these for may economically justified due their significantly lower price (Aeroxide®). Seventy-two products photodegradation process followed pseudo-first-order kinetics. It that tested drugs are very similar regardless catalyst used. Only diclofenac consequently its different compared TiO2-containing photocatalysts. confirmed photocatalysts, with exclusion FS, could useful pharmaceutical degradation.

The growing introduction of pharmaceutical compounds into waterways is a contemporary environmental issue in the Middle East and North Africa. This escalating problem necessitates careful examination risks associated with presence pharmaceuticals water sources. present study analysed samples from eight wastewater treatment plants an Arabian Peninsula nation. Sixty-nine percent were partially or fully removed, while 31% showed higher effluent concentrations, indicating potential accumulation post-treatment. highest detected paracetamol (1300 ± 8 ng/L), metformin (1100 70 ng/L) effluent, mefenamic acid (630 3 captopril (560 11 amitriptyline (510 1 influents. For radiopharmaceuticals, influent activity exceeded that effluents, Ga-67 being most prominent (influent, 0.28 0.07 Bq/L; 0.22 0.02 Bq/L). Sludge radioactivity levels than samples, primarily I-131 at 5 2 Bq/kg. data obtained this will enable assessment hazards posed by mixtures receiving environment hitherto less studied region.

Pharmaceutical drugs and its degradative products have been reported in the environmental samples like soil, sediment, water. Based on limit of detection very few studies conducted effect persistent, bio accumulative toxic environment. Considering impact nitrate soil fertility vegetables, current study was done to assess acetaminophen, hydroxychloroquine, acetaminophen biodegradative (hydroquinone, 4 Aminophenol), hydroxychloroquine (7 Chloroquinoline amine, oxalic acid) nitrogen transformation. The test compounds (10 mg/kg, 100 1000 mg/kg) were added samples, whereas untreated served as control. Samples treated control soils processed for estimate using Mgo-Devarda's alloy technique nitrate-N estimation after 0, 7, 14, 28 days incubation. Pollutants found significant nitrate. At high concentration (1000 mg/kg), extremely region suggesting possible accumulation vegetable parts. Vegetable content is considered important quality parameter human health. This data helpful determination negative pharmaceuticals diet subsequently monitoring before discharge into ecosystem.
