The Effect of Ketogenic Metabolic Therapy on Recurrent High-Grade Gliomas: Case Series DOI Open Access

High-grade gliomas represent the most prevalent primary malignant brain tumors in adult population. Despite extensive efforts dedicated to advance therapeutic modalities, treatment options remain very limited this field, leading a worse prognosis for affected patients. Moreover, considerable number of cases exhibit refractory disease following initial management. Ketogenic Metabolic Therapy (KMT) has emerged as promising adjunctive approach recurrent high-grade gliomas, offering them synergistic effect enhancement effectiveness conventional therapies against type cancer. The underlying hypothesis relies on use high-fat, low-carbohydrate diet, with adequate protein content can potentially induce metabolic reprogramming cancer cells. Currently, KMT is rise and shown positive effects control selected neurological symptoms improvements patient’s quality life. This descriptive observational multicenter study (case series) that includes patients who underwent were supplemented liquid ketogenic formula (in 3:1 ratio) complementary ongoing medical regimen recurrence. results show impact seizure control, well significant cognition, memory functionality, reported by and/or their families (caregivers). Regarding status, assessed RANO criteria, 12-month follow-up evaluation indicated stable 55% partial response 20% cases.
