Visualising and Valuing Urban Agriculture for Land Use Planning: A Critical GIS Analysis of Sydney and Neighbouring Regions

The
loss
of
a
city’s
agricultural
lands
due
to
land
use
change
through
urban
development
is
global
problem,
as
local
food
production
an
essential
green
infrastructure
for
intergenerational
sustainability.
Like
many
cities,
much
Sydney’s
rapid
occurs
on
previously
used
production.
Sydney
has
one
the
highest
rates
growth
among
Western
cities
and
planning
strategy
that
marginalises
its
productivity.
To
better
understand
advocate
capacity
we
explore
all
available
government
datasets
containing
biophysical
using
critical
GIS
approach.
Employing
various
spatial-data
visualisations
contextualise
production,
examine
inherent
in
comparable
regions
along
eastern
coast
NSW.
Our
approach
interrogates

Constructing
