Background Retail involves directly delivering goods and services to end consumers. Natural disasters epidemics/pandemics have significant potential disrupt supply chains, leading shortages, forecasting errors, price increases, substantial financial strains on retailers. The COVID-19 pandemic highlighted the need for retail sectors prepare crisis impacts sales forecasts by regularly assessing adjusting volumes, consumer behavior, models adapt changing conditions. Methods This study explores strategies adapting approaches in response such crises. By employing different machine learning (ML) methods, we analyze behavior changes across various product categories, including bottom wear, top one piece, accessories, outwear, shoes during pandemic. Results gradient boosting CatBoost algorithms excelled groups with Multi-Layer Perceptron (MLP) algorithm performed well low-volume categories like accessories footwear. Meanwhile, MLP, LightGBM, XGBoost were effective medium-volume as outerwear underwear.
