Crystal growth of 2-(3,4,5-triphenylphenyl)acetic acid ( 1 ) from acetonitrile yields a monosolvate, C 26 H 20 O 2 ·CH 3 CN, the space group P . In crystal, title molecule adopts conformation in which three phenyl rings are arranged paddlewheel-like fashion around central arene ring and carboxyl residue is oriented nearly perpendicular to plane this benzene ring. Inversion-symmetric dimers O—H...O-bonded molecules represent basic supramolecular entities crystal structure. These dimeric molecular units further linked by C—H...O=C bonds form one-dimensional aggregates running along crystallographic [111] direction. Weak aryl —H...N interactions occur between acetonitrile.
