Intermittent fasting (IF) focuses on the timing of eating rather than diet quality or energy intake, with evidence supporting its effects weight loss and cardiometabolic outcomes in adults. However, there is limited for efficacy adolescents emerging To address this, a scoping review examined IF regimens individuals aged 10 to 25, focusing methodology, intervention parameters, outcomes, adherence, feasibility, efficacy. The included 39 studies 731 participants 15 25. Methodologies varied, 18 time-restricted others requiring caloric restriction. Primary risk factors (11/29), body composition (9/29), anthropometric measurements (8/29), feasibility (2/29). Most reported significant loss. This underscores IF's potential treating obesity this age group but highlights need rigorous standardized frameworks ensure comparability determine practicality group.

Intermittent fasting (IF) has been indicated as a valuable alternative to the classical caloric restriction dietary regimen for lowering body weight and preventing obesity-related complications, such metabolic syndrome type II diabetes. However, is it effective? In this review article, we analyzed over 50 clinical studies in which IF, conducted by alternate day (ADF) or time-restricted feeding (TRF), was compared with approach. We evaluated different roles of IF treating human disorders syndrome, diabetes, some types cancer, well usefulness reducing cardiovascular risk factors hypertension. Furthermore, explored cellular pathways targeted exert their beneficial effects activating effector proteins that modulate cell functions resistance oxidative stress. contrast, investigated concerns regarding health related adoption regimens, highlighting profound debate surrounding loss regimens. examined several trials formulate an updated concept its therapeutic potential.

Intermittent fasting has been linked to metabolic health by improving lipid profiles, reducing body weight, and increasing insulin sensitivity. However, several randomized clinical trials have shown that intermittent is not more effective than standard daily caloric restriction for short-term weight loss or cardiometabolic improvements in patients with obesity. Observational studies also suggest cardiovascular benefits from extended rather reduced eating windows, indicate long-term regimens may increase the risk of disease mortality. In this perspective, we discuss evidence support potential adverse effects on through lean mass, circadian misalignment poor dietary choices associated reward-based eating. Given ongoing revolution obesity pharmacotherapy, argue future research should integrate anti-obesity medications strategies confer robust health, combine exercise regimens, consider genetic factors personalize treatment. Comprehensive approaches combining diet, lifestyle modifications will become crucial managing minimizing risk.

Epilepsy, a brain condition causing recurrent seizures, can disrupt various body functions, including urination. This study explored how alternate-day fasting (ADF), type of intermittent fasting, diet involving one day eating and subsequently affects urinary system health in epileptic rats. Using genetic rat model epilepsy, we examined bladder kidney function through tissue analysis, biochemical tests, physiological assessments, focusing on differences between males females. The results showed that epilepsy causes significant damage linked to inflammation oxidative stress. However, ADF reduces this by lowering restoring antioxidant balance. Male rats exhibited more damage, while female responded better ADF, likely due hormonal differences. These findings suggest as potential, cost-effective dietary approach protect against complications similar conditions. Understanding these effects may lead improved treatments for both genders quality life people with chronic diseases.

Alzheimer's disease (AD) disproportionately affects women, with postmenopausal hormonal changes contributing to elevated risk. Physical exercise is a promising, non-pharmacological strategy mitigate cognitive decline and AD progression. Brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) irisin are key molecular mediators of exercise-induced brain health protection against pathology by promoting synaptic plasticity, neurogenesis, reducing amyloidosis, tau pathology, neuroinflammation in sex-specific mechanisms. This review explores sex gender influences on outcomes their interaction FNDC5/irisin BDNF signaling pathways the context prevention. Intermittent fasting (IF) has emerged as a potential adjunctive strategy in cancer prevention, mitigation, and treatment. This narrative review synthesizes existing literature to explore the relationship between IF across 3 dimensions: We examine underlying mechanisms by which may reduce risk, including its effects on insulin-like growth factor 1 suppression, autophagy induction, chronic inflammation reduction. Furthermore, we discuss IF’s enhance efficacy of conventional therapies sensitizing cells, promoting apoptosis, reducing treatment-related side effects. While promising, evidence is still limited, further research required elucidate long-term impact optimal implementation care. aims provide health care professionals patients with comprehensive understanding benefits risks associated complementary approach oncology setting.

Background: Cognitive dysfunction is a significant health challenge in the global elderly population, and its prevalence associated with multiple factors, including modifiable lifestyle factors. The relationship between nighttime fasting duration, potential factor, cognitive function has yet to be thoroughly investigated. Objective: To investigate association duration function. Methods: This cross-sectional study was based on data from National Health Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) 2011 2014. Weighted linear regression utilized examine function, additional curve fitting inflection point analysis conducted further elucidate this Results: There negative (Learn: β = -1.2, 95% CI: -1.98, -0.43, P 0.006; Recall: -1.1, -2.11, -0.09, 0.036; Animal Fluency: -4.49, -7.26, -1.72, 0.004; Digit Symbol Substitution Test: -12.66, -19.30, -6.01, 0.002). Subgroup analyses showed that correlation prevalent most subgroups. Curve revealed scores, but did not identify point. Conclusions: Longer times may decline, either as continuous or categorical variable.

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder affecting approximately 55 million individuals globally. Diagnosis typically occurs in advanced stages, and there are limited options for reversing symptoms. Preventive strategies are, therefore, crucial. Time Restricted Eating (TRE) or Feeding (TRF) one such strategy. Here we review recent research on AD TRE/TRF addition to biomarkers gut microbiota.
