The corrosion of metals is very important, both economically and environmentally, a serious concern. Since the past decades, traditional (chemical) inhibitors to prevent have been are still being used. Although these can be said good choice among other protection techniques because their efficiency, toxicity many them causes environmental problems, and, due change in laws on use chemicals, no longer allowed. Hence, during years, research green (GCIs) increased favorable results were obtained, now they popular. It that biodegradability easy preparation most important factors. Meanwhile, plants, especially extracts, has studied lot. Plant extracts contain compounds anti-corrosion properties. In this review, plants as GCIs investigated, focusing recent advances use. Also, phenomenon corrosion, (including coatings, nanoparticles, chemical inhibitors), briefly reviewed.

Due to issues with the corrosion problem in petroleum industry and use of less ecologically acceptable inhibitors, great emphasis, within research on is now being put green inhibitors (GCIs). In this study, Lady’s mantle flower extract (LMFE) has been observed as a plant-based GCI for carbon steel simulated CO2-saturated brine solution. The effectiveness inhibitor static flow conditions determined using potentiodynamic polarization Tafel extrapolation electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). conditions, tested at concentrations from 1 g/L 5 an increment per measurement, while, dynamic (flow) 3 6 measurement. All measurements were performed room temperature. EIS methods showed that LMFE achieves maximum protecting when added concentration 4 conditions. test proved inhibitory greater than 90% both (static flow). efficiency was attributed adsorption surface, which demonstrated by Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) scanning electron microscopy (SEM). A biodegradability 0.96 toxicity 19.34% determined. conducted laboratory tests indicate could be used effective CO2 corrosion.

The objective of this research work was to assess Teucrium luteum subsp. flavovirens essential oil (EOTL), for the first time, as novel and eco-friendly corrosion inhibitor carbon steel (CS) in 1.0 M HCl medium. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), potentiodynamic polarization (PDP) surface analysis were employed effectiveness EOTL. findings indicate that EOTL reduces CS hydrochloric acid offered an inhibition efficiency (IE) 91% at a dosage 2.00 g/L 298 K. PDP data showed behaved mixed-type inhibitor. effect immersion time temperature on performance also studied. It found IE increased only up 24 h decreased with prolonged time. In addition, diminished increasing temperature. molecules adsorbed following Langmuir adsorption isotherm, energy ranging from −16 −27 kJ/mol, indication physico-chemical mechanisms. SEM/EDX results provide evidence presence protective film CS. Theoretical studies using DFT, Monte Carlo simulations, molecular dynamics simulations mean square displacement conducted given insight into contributions four main components This not introduces sustainable alternative conventional inhibitors but provides robust understanding underlying mechanisms, hence contributing advancement science.
