Abstract Objective: To assess the relationship between dietary intake of α -carotene, β -cryptoxanthin, lycopene and lutein+zeaxanthin (LZ) occurrence metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD). Design: Cross-sectional study design. The MAFLD diagnosis was based on hepatic steatosis dysregulation. Carotenoid adjusted for using an energy-adjusted model. Logistic regression restricted cubic spline (RCS) analyses were used to relationships, with sensitivity analysis validate findings. Weighted quantile sum (WQS) explore combined effect these carotenoids MAFLD. Subgroup conducted identify population-specific associations. Setting: National Health Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) 2017–March 2020. Participants: This included 5098 individuals aged 18 years older. Results: After adjusting potential confounders, a weak inverse association observed -carotene intakes (all P value <0·05). highest quartile showed significantly lower compared lowest (OR = 0·65; 95 % CI: 0·44, 0·97). RCS that associated higher four carotenoids, excluding lycopene. Furthermore, WQS revealed negative carotenoid 0·95, 0·90, 1·00, 0·037). reduced in populations 50–69 years, females, physically active non-drinkers. Conclusion: Higher is occurrence. However, this varies among different ages, sexes lifestyles.

Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disorder (MASLD) is increasingly prevalent globally, highlighting the need for preventive strategies and early interventions. This comprehensive review explores potential of health functional foods (HFFs) to maintain healthy function prevent MASLD through an integrative analysis network pharmacology, gut microbiota, multi-omics approaches. We first examined biomarkers associated with MASLD, emphasizing complex interplay genetic, environmental, lifestyle factors. then applied pharmacology identify food components beneficial effects on metabolic function, elucidating their action mechanisms. identifies evaluates halting or reversing development disease in stages, as well that can evaluate success failure such strategies. The crucial role microbiota its metabolites prevention homeostasis discussed. also cover state-of-the-art omics approaches, including transcriptomics, metabolomics, integrated analyses, research preventing MASLD. These advanced technologies provide deeper insights into physiological mechanisms HFF development. concludes by proposing approach developing HFFs targeting prevention, considering Korean regulatory framework. outline future directions bridge gap between basic science practical applications narrative provides a foundation researchers industry professionals interested support health. Emphasis placed maintaining balance focusing early-stage intervention

Nutrition and its associated inflammation have been acknowledged as vital factors in the etiopathogenesis of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) fibrosis. The nutritional risk index (NRI) has widely recognized a valid indicator status several diseases, including osteoporosis cardiovascular disease. However, role NRI NAFLD fibrosis remains unclear. Participants were selected from National Health Examination Survey data for 2017–2018 cycle. Association between both was evaluated using multiple logistic regression restricted cubic spline (RCS) analysis. Mediation analysis employed to assess influence on association Compared their respective control groups, individuals with exhibited higher levels. Multiple analyses indicated that positively odds across continuous scales quantile adjustments relevant covariables. RCS model demonstrated dose-response effect NAFLD, but not Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) revealed area under ROC curves 0.798 0.775 fibrosis, respectively. showed accounted 3.139% suggesting might partially mediate impact NAFLD. Our findings indicate may serve potential marker these underscoring importance etiopathogenesis.

Background: Alpha-1-acid glycoprotein (AGP) is a synthesized mainly by the liver. Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and fibrosis (LF) are associated with metabolic disorders. The aim of this study was to examine potential correlation between AGP both NAFLD LF. Methods: data were derived from 2017–2023 National Health Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES). linear association LF examined multivariate logistic regression models. Non-linear relationships described fitting smoothed curves threshold effect analysis. Subgroup analysis also performed assess regulatory factors. Results: included 2270 females. found be significantly positively [OR = 12.00, 95% CI (6.73, 21.39), p < 0.001] 2.20, (1.07, 4.50), 0.042]. Furthermore, different in diabetic subgroup (p 0.05 for interaction). Additionally, we an inverted U-shaped relationship controlled attenuation parameter (CAP), inflection point at 1.20 g/L. Conclusions: We significant positive LF, there CAP.

Insulin resistance (IR) of metabolic origin is a pathological condition, which based on decrease in the response insulin-sensitive cells to insulin stimulation. It often accompanies metabolically associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD) and pathogenetic basis type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). MAFLD with high risk developing T2DM, its presence increases likelihood T2DM by approximately two times during next five years patient’s life. Long non-coding RNAs are directly involved development IR, determination level their expression can significantly increase effectiveness diagnosis prognosis disease. Today, among assumptions explaining mechanisms IR development, lipocentric glucocentric hypotheses dominate.
