The incidence of insulin resistance (IR) and hepatic steatosis is increasing, with dietary fiber playing a protective role against these disorders. Ocimum basilicum L., widely used in food, pharmaceutical, cosmetic industries, but their health-promoting properties remain underexplored. This study evaluated the effects fiber-rich fraction partially defatted basil seeds (BSF) on IR, steatosis, polyunsaturated fatty acid short-chain (SCFA) profiles high-fat diet (HFD)-fed C57BL/6 J male mice. Mice were assigned to four groups fed either control or HFD, supplemented BSF oat flour for 4 weeks. HFD induced proinflammatory state, significant decreased SCFA production. In contrast, supplementation attenuated liver damage, oxidative stress, inflammation, while increasing n-3 acids liver, adipocytes, erythrocytes, enhancing production, suggesting potential therapeutic benefits managing conditions.

Many physiological changes accompany pregnancy, most of them involving metabolic perturbations. Alterations in microbiota composition occur both before and during pregnancy have recently been correlated with an important role the development complications, such as insulin resistance gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM). These may be influenced by adaptations to itself, well dietary modifications gestation. Medical nutritional therapy (MNT) applied pregnant women at risk stands out one factors increasing microbiota’s diversity species genus levels. In this review, we discuss their impact on intestinal microbiota, which contribute GDM. We also findings from previous studies regarding effectiveness MNT reducing resistance. future, additional should aim identify specific gut microbial profiles that serve early indicators Early diagnosis, achievable through stool analysis or metabolite profiling, facilitate timely implementation pharmaceutical modifications, thereby mitigating its associated sequelae.

The human gut, comprising the stomach, intestine, and colon, hosts a diverse host‐specific microbial community known as gut microbiota. symbiotic relationship between humans their microbiota is highly conserved has evolved over time, playing crucial role in maintaining overall health well‐being. Metagenomic metabolomic analyses have revealed pivotal of regulating body homeostasis, influencing various physiological processes ranging from metabolism to immune system. Several studies demonstrated that dysbiosis associated with severe clinical conditions, including Type 2 diabetes. Individuals diabetes exhibit distinct composition, characterized by reduced diversity an altered relative abundance certain bacterial species. This can result chronic low‐grade inflammation metabolic endotoxemia. also marked persistent inflammation, where inflammatory cytokines contribute impaired glucose insulin resistance. complex, necessitating further research elucidate underlying mechanisms develop effective therapies. review provides valuable insights into potential aspects diabetes, metabolism, resistance, inflammation. aim this article highlight importance therapeutic target for managing
