Obesity is associated with a significantly increased risk of cardiovascular and metabolic diseases such as diabetes mellitus. Recently, growing body evidence shows that phytochemicals, especially many flavonoids, place an inhibitory regulatory effect on adipogenesis, obesity diabetes. With computer-aided drug discovery, the action modes more bioactive flavonoids are being identified confirmed at molecular level. Citrus fruit peels particularly rich in which have demonstrated strong therapeutic potentials regulating lipid metabolisms. However, they usually thrown away after consuming flesh, sometimes even causing environmental problems. Thus, extraction useful from citrus waste for pharmaceutical industry could be profitable environmentally friendly solution future, advocating concepts circular economy sustainable society. The aim this review to summarize current antiobesity antidiabetic extracted fruits. Our results suggest various potential sources novel drugs nutraceuticals. Combining experimental data artificial intelligence methods study would facilitate discovery against obesity-related diseases.

The pursuit for better skin health, driven by collective and individual perceptions, has led to the demand sustainable skincare products. Environmental factors lifestyle choices can accelerate aging, causing issues like inflammation, wrinkles, elasticity loss, hyperpigmentation, dryness. industry is innovating meet consumers' requests cleaner natural options. Simultaneously, environmental concerning waste generation have been leading strategies based on circular economy. A noteworthy solution consists of citrus by-product valorization, as such by-products be used a source bioactive molecules. Citrus processing, particularly, generates substantial amounts (around 50% whole fruit), unprecedented burdens. Hesperidin, flavonoid abundant in orange peels, considered hold immense potential clean health product applications due its antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anticarcinogenic properties. This review explores hesperidin extraction purification methodologies well key application areas: (i) antiaging barrier enhancement, (ii) UV radiation-induced damage, (iii) hyperpigmentation depigmentation conditions, (iv) wound healing, (v) cancer other cutaneous diseases. work's novelty lies comprehensive coverage hesperidin's promising while also demonstrating ingredient from economy approach.

Citrus fruits, revered for their nutritional value, face significant threats from diseases like citrus canker, particularly impacting global cultivation, notably in Pakistan. This study delves into the critical role of NPR1 -like genes, true receptors salicylic acid (SA), defense mechanisms against Xanthomonas axonopodis pv. citri (Xcc). By conducting a comprehensive genome-wide analysis and phylogenetic study, evolutionary dynamics limon genes across diverse cultivars are elucidated. Structural predictions unveil conserved domains, such as BTB domain ankyrin repeat crucial mechanism. Motif reveals essential patterns, while cis-regulatory elements indicate involvement transcription, growth, response to phytohormones, stress. The predominantly cytoplasmic nuclear localization underscores pivotal conferring resistance various species. Analysis Ks/Ka ratio indicates purifying selection emphasizing importance different Synteny chromosomal mapping provide insights duplication events orthologous links among Notably, Xac infection stimulates expression revealing responsiveness pathogenic challenges. Interestingly, qRT-PCR profiling post-Xac cultivar-specific alterations within susceptible resistant varieties. Beyond genetic factors, physiological parameters peroxidase, total soluble protein, secondary metabolites respond SA-dependent PR influencing plant characteristics. Examining impact (NPR1) characteristics on disease citrus, this marks inaugural investigation correlation between NPR1-associated traits both varieties bacterial canker.

Introduction: Aging is a process characterised by decline in physiological functions. Reactive species play crucial role the aging rate. Due to close relationship between and oxidative stress, functional foods rich phytochemicals are excellent candidates neutralise age-related changes. Aim: This investigation aims verify potential protective of bergamot ( Citrus bergamia , Femminello cultivar) peel juice extract model represented human red blood cells (RBCs) exposed D-Galactose (DGal). Methods: Bergamot extracts were subjected RP-HPLC/PDA/MS for determination their composition bioactive compounds. Markers including ROS production, thiobarbituric acid reactive substances (TBARS) levels -a marker lipid peroxidation, oxidation total protein sulfhydryl groups, as well expression anion exchange capability band 3 glycated haemoglobin (A1c) production have been investigated RBCs treated with D-Gal 24 h, or without pre-incubation 15 min 5 μg/mL extract. In addition, activity endogenous antioxidant system, catalase (CAT) superoxide dismutase (SOD), diversion RBC metabolism from glycolysis towards pentose phosphate pathway shunt, denoted activation glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PDH), explored. Results: Data shown here suggest that i) prevented D-Gal-induced consequently, stress injury biological macromolecules membrane lipids proteins; ii) significantly restored alterations distribution ion transport kinetics 3; iii) blunted A1c production; iv) effectively impeded over-activation enzymes CAT SOD; v) G6PDH. Discussion: These results further contribute shed light on mechanisms identify food natural antioxidants useful prevention treatment stress-related changes, which may lead pathological states during aging.
