Therapeutic and/or gourmet essential oils constitute one of the most important groups raw materials for various industries, notably those perfumery, pharmaceuticals and food.The use as a flavoring by food industry is notified additive, that is, gourmet, because "flavor" refers to flavor, which would be combination taste smell.The objective this work was verify antibacterial action (100%): asafetida (Ferula foetida) lemon-scented gum (Corymbia citriodora), individually in combination.Gourmet were soaked filter paper discs with diameter 6 mm suitable antibiogram, placed center Petri dishes, previously seeded following microorganisms: Bacillus cereus, subtilis, Escherichia coli, Salmonella Enteritidis, Typhimurium Staphylococcus aureus, later incubated at 35 ºC / 24 48 hours.The antimicrobial considered effective who had halos equal or greater than 10 mm.Asafetida oil demonstrated on all tested bacteria, largest (25 mm) observed B. subtilis S. aureus.Regarding gum, it effectively inhibited bacteria used study, showing 90 (bactericidal action).The best result obtained lemonscented (90 halos).
