In this scoping review, the effects of screen time on cognitive, linguistic, and social-emotional development in children were studied by examining peer-reviewed articles published between 2018 2023. A total 17 used study. The research reported that media provide a learning avenue, though it could be detrimental when spend their watching more than appropriate media. Furthermore, study indicated excessive use may harm children's executive function, which affects academic performance language development. Related studies have also shown correlation excess problems like obesity, sleep disturbances as well emotional challenges underscoring importance responsible practices parental support. contributes to what parents educators should do enable good habits further needs.

Research on the associations between screen time and child development suggests that various forms of might pose a risk for aspects development. However, data impact exposure to media children under 3 years age is comparatively scarce. Although evidence available topic evolving rapidly, no review existing literature has yet encompassed comprehensive set developmental outcomes with focus in first life. To address this research gap, present focused influences aged zero 36 months. These were sleep-related parameters, physical health, cognition, learning efficiency, language, motor skills, socio-emotional social interaction, overall end, ten databases searched systematically, 158 studies published launch iPhone early 2007 until 2024 included. Only reported specific results range months examined, including longitudinal samples at wave assessment. For most outcomes, comparable amount undesirable non-significant was found children's time, while few desirable reported. In line notion resilience, these indicate characteristics child, context, and/or content moderate childhood, thus contributing mitigating potential displacement opportunities or even creating new opportunities. More designs can examine causal effect explicitly role content, context variables are needed.

The implementation of modern technologies has transformed connectivity, information-sharing, and education, significantly influencing students' academic journeys. New offer advantages disadvantages, particularly impacting young students leading to changes in habits behaviors. While technology can improve learning efficiency through personalized approaches, excessive screen time negatively affect communication performance. Studies recommend limited for children mitigate adverse effects. Research highlights the benefits risks digital usage, emphasizing influence on brain development cognitive functions younger users. Background/Objectives: Excessive screen time has been linked to poorer developmental outcomes in preschool years, with the impact depending on context. Parents of emotionally reactive children, particular, may use screens manage their child’s emotions, especially when experiencing distress themselves. This reliance can hinder development self-regulation, leading behavioral difficulties. Our study aimed explore how emotional reactivity, parental distress, time, and media-related coping interact while contributing externalizing (behavioral) problems preschool-aged children. Methods: The included 754 children (49.1% girls), aged 2–5 years (M = 44.6 months, SD 13.7). reported children’s reactivity using Child Behavior Checklist provided data daily behaviors. Bivariate correlations, group comparisons, structural equation modeling were employed analyze data. Results: Children averaged 111.86 min (SD 83.94), 35.2% parents as a strategy. Emotional was strongest predictor problems, role weak, yet significant. Parental positively associated child time. Structural showed that related both directly indirectly via coping, increased Conclusions: findings highlight key factor emphasizing cumulative risks posed by use. results suggest interventions promoting healthier habits supporting well-being.

Objective . Early childhood screen-time impacts school readiness, particularly in low- and middle-income countries. This study examined associations between readiness for formal schooling among toddlers preschoolers Kakamega County, Kenya. Methods. A cross-sectional of 144 children aged 2 to 5 years was conducted using the Denver II developmental screening ECDI2030 assess readiness. Parent-reported questionnaires captured demographic data screen media exposure. Results Participants’ median age 48 months (IQR = 20.75), with an average 2.0 hours/day 1.425), exceeding recommended guidelines 1 hour. Children had 52% lower odds while parental supervision increased by 68%. While associated child sex, household income, educational content showed no significant associations. Conclusion Excessive may result emphasizing risks low-resource settings. Parental involvement culturally tailored interventions are vital early development.

This study explores preservice teachers’ (PSTs’) attitudes toward technology through case studies conducted in a technology-focused course. Nine PSTs completed four addressing screen time guidelines, virtual reality, the digital divide, and ChatGPT-4. Using SAMR (Substitution, Augmentation, Modification, Redefinition) model as coding framework, researchers analyzed 36 written reflections. often viewed substitute rather than transformative tool. While many expressed skepticism about technology, others acknowledged potential of tools like ChatGPT to enhance teaching, e.g., providing real-time feedback on writing translating assignments into native languages. The underscores value helping critically evaluate technology’s role teaching learning. Despite recognizing its inevitability, need further support embrace use.

ABSTRACT Empirical studies have shown immediate detrimental effects of TV viewing on children's executive functions (EFs). Existing theories proposed that such depletion could occur due to fantastical cartoons triggering an attention bias towards salient features the stimuli (e.g., stimulus‐driven exogenous attention). However, a co‐occurrence visual known drive exogenously in means it is unclear which aspect content problematic. In present study, we matched clips saliency isolate and test short‐term impact content. Specifically, tested (1) performance inhibitory control (IC) task (a gaze‐contingent anti‐saccade task) as measure EF depletion, whilst 36 toddlers (18 months) viewed with without events (7‐min duration), (2) whether differences IC are associated increased attention. Results confirmed effect toddlers’ endogenous (indexed by behaviours), less able inhibit looks distractor make anticipatory target. fixation durations (FDs) during cartoon speed orienting did not differ between two conditions, suggesting no driven These results point mechanisms, may arisen from cognitive processing difficulties.
