Emerging evidence suggests that diets rich in plant-based foods and beverages may exert plausible effects on human health tackling the risk of chronic diseases. Although data are promising for numerous outcomes, including cardiovascular diseases, mental limited. The aim this study was to investigate association between individual polyphenol-rich intake such as perceived stress, depressive symptoms, sleep quality, among adult individuals living Mediterranean area. demographic dietary characteristics a sample 1572 adults southern Italy were analysed. Multivariate logistic regression analyses, controlling confounding factors, used calculate odds ratios (ORs) 95% confidence intervals (CIs) alcoholic containing polyphenols outcomes. multivariate model adjusted background covariates diet showed with moderate (up 1 cup/glass per day) coffee tea less likely have high stress (OR = 0.61, CI: 0.45-0.84) symptoms 0.56, 0.39-0.80), respectively. Furthermore, regular moderate/regular red wine drinkers 0.72, 0.54-0.95 OR 0.74, 0.54-0.99, respectively). No significant associations retrieved quality. In conclusion, results present suggest be associated health, terms stress. Nonetheless, further research exploring how impact brain what optimal patterns consumption different populations warranted.

Scope This study aims to systematically review observational studies investigating the relation between dietary (poly)phenol consumption and various cognitive outcomes. Methods results Embase PubMed databases are searched from inception April 2023 for intake For quantitative analyses, random effects models, subgroup dose–response analyses performed. A total of 37 included in systematic review. Among (poly)phenols, a higher flavonoids is associated with better function lower odds decline (although some exceptions). meta‐analysis shows an overall inverse association impairment reduced incidence dementia or related disorders (relative risk (RR) = 0.83, 95% confidence interval (CI): 0.76, 0.89), anthocyanins (RR 0.73, CI: 0.60, flavones 0.77, 0.63, 0.94), flavan‐3‐ols 0.86, 0.82, 0.91), flavonols 0.88, 0.80, 0.96). Data on other (poly)phenolic compounds (i.e., phenolic acids) promising but too preliminary. Conclusion Habitual inclusion diet may play preventive role against disorders.

In the last decades, world population and demand for any kind of product have grown exponentially. The rhythm production to satisfy request has become unsustainable concept linear economy, introduced after Industrial Revolution, been replaced by a new economic approach, circular economy. this model, “the end life” is substituted restoration, providing life many industrial wastes. Leaves are by-product several agricultural cultivations. recent years, scientific interest regarding leaf biochemical composition grew, recording that plant leaves may be considered an alternative source bioactive substances. Plant leaves’ main compounds similar those in fruits, i.e., phenolic acids esters, flavonols, anthocyanins, procyanidins. Bioactive can positively influence human health; fact, it no coincidence were used our ancestors as natural remedy various pathological conditions. Therefore, exploited manufacture products food (e.g., being incorporated formulations antioxidants, or create edible coatings films packaging), cosmetic pharmaceutical industries promising ingredients anti-aging cosmetics such oils, serums, dermatological creams, bath gels, other products). This review focuses on their beneficial health effects, indicating applications until today enhance them harvesting highlight possible reuse potential healthy products.

Computer modeling is a method that widely used in scientific investigations to predict the biological activity, toxicity, pharmacokinetics, and synthesis strategy of compounds based on structure molecule. This work systematic review articles performed accordance with recommendations PRISMA contains information computer interaction classical flavonoids different targets. The computational approaches presented. Furthermore, affinities targets are associated infection, cardiovascular, oncological diseases discussed. Additionally, methodology bias risks molecular docking research principles evidentiary medicine was suggested Based this data, most active groups lead for were determined. It concluded promising object drug development further pharmacology by vitro, ex vivo, vivo models required.

The health benefits of plant-based diets have been reported. Plant-based found in Spain and other Mediterranean countries differ from typical countries. In the diet, a high intake phenolic compounds through olives, olive oil, red wine may play an important role cardiovascular prevention. Prospective studies carried out provide interesting insights. A relatively young cohort 16,147 Spanish participants free disease (CVD) was followed (61% women, mean (SD) age 37(12) years at baseline) for median 12.2 years. Dietary repeatedly assessed using 136-item validated food frequency questionnaire, (poly)phenol obtained Phenol-Explorer database. Participants were classified as incident cases CVD if medical diagnosis myocardial infarction, stroke, or death medically confirmed. Time-dependent Cox regression models used to assess relationship between incidence major CVD. suboptimal independently associated with higher risk CVD, multivariable-adjusted hazard ratio lowest versus top 4 quintiles: 1.85 (95% CI: 1.09-3.16). moderate-to-high dietary compounds, especially flavonoids, is likely reduce context pattern.
