Abstract Binge eating (BE) in adults with overweight or obesity (OW/OB) is associated negative affect and appetitive traits (i.e., food responsiveness, satiety reward-based eating). While these risk factors may be important intervention targets, they have not been evaluated concurrently, nor for gender consistency. Multigroup structural equation modeling assessed differences associations between affect, traits, BE among 293 treatment-seeking OW/OB (m age = 46.6; m body mass index[BMI] 34.5; 81.2% female; 20.1% Latinx, 60.8% white non-Latinx), adjusting age, race/ethnicity BMI. Separate models examined measured by the Scale (BES) total score past month binge days Eating Disorder Examination Questionnaire (EDEQ). Both demonstrated good model fit (CFI > 0.99, RMSEA < 0.03, SRMR 0.06). BES scores were (F: β 0.17; M: 0.14) 0.57; 0.57) both females males ( p ’s ≤ 0.01). 2.14) 1.48) 0.01), but 0.30). A consistent covariance was observed across genders r’s 0.42–0.47, 0.001). Conceptual of should consider joint role as together constructs represent a larger factor BE, particularly OW/OB. Future studies evaluate potential bias existing measurement tools, present study inconsistent depending upon how assessed.

Introduction This study investigates the interplay between body composition, dietary patterns, and physical activity across genders, focusing on gender-specific differences in food preferences eating behaviors. Understanding these interactions is crucial for developing targeted nutritional lifestyle interventions. Methods A cross-sectional was conducted with 1,333 participants (58.7% female, 41.3% male), aged 18–65 years. Participants were categorized into tertiles based their fat mass to fat-free (FM-to-FFM) ratio. Data choices, behaviors, collected analyzed identify trends. Results Significant observed Males experienced greater hunger late afternoon, while females felt more morning. showed a preference processed red meats, whereas preferred cooked vegetables. Eating behaviors such as meal skipping, uncontrolled eating, nocturnal taste (sweet or salty) varied distinctly FM-to-FFM genders. Higher ratios correlated lower levels, particularly strength training general sports engagement. Discussion These findings highlight complex habits, factors, emphasizing differences. The results suggest that composition BMI significantly impact health-related necessitating tailored interventions address promote healthier lifestyles.

The main objectives were to investigate the prevalence of ED and associated risk factors among medical students in Romania, as well determine which variables may predict explore differences between general population. Eating Disorders Inventory questionnaire (EDI-3) was applied. Also, body mass index calculated, socio-demographic information regarding personal family history collected (mental chronic diseases, self-reported sleep difficulties past 6 months, obesity) potentially risky events (history ridicule, major negative events, social pressure be thin from family, friends, media). 37.1% are at eating disorders, 41% females 23% males, according EDI-3. 14.42% underweight, 65.05% normal weight, 16.99% overweight 3.53% obese. Abstract Objective Eating disorders (EDs) increasingly emerge as a health risk in men, but there is concern that men's symptoms go unnoticed due to stereotypical perceptions and gender‐related differences symptom presentation. Novel assessments focused particularly on attitudes behaviours towards increasing muscle size definition. Using network analysis, this study aimed corroborate extend previous findings disordered eating presentation men by examining the role of muscularity concerns among an extended range symptoms. Method N = 294 adult (18 years or older) completed muscularity‐related assessments, which we included for orthorexic Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder first time. We selected empirically, estimated regularised network, identified communities, evaluated loadings bridge centrality estimates, compared structures between different groups participants. Results five communities related concerns, features core ED psychopathology, selective eating. Symptoms regarding ruminating about healthy eating, guilt unhealthy weight overvaluation, muscularity, emerged highly central. Discussion The results largely observations suggest muscle‐building are part broader cluster male body shaping rule‐based dieting behaviours.

There is a continued need to identify the prevalence and sociodemographic correlates of eating disorders, particularly among under-researched group boys men, inform prevention intervention efforts. Data from The Study Boys Men, sample 1553 men aged between 15 35 years in Canada United States, were analyzed 2024. Probable disorder diagnoses identified using previously established algorithm based on current diagnostic criteria. A multivariable logistic regression analysis was used determine meeting criteria for any probable diagnosis. diagnosis 21.3 % (95 confidence interval [CI] 18.7-24.1), while bulimia nervosa had highest (5.8 %, 95 CI 4.6-7.1) anorexia lowest (0.34 0.1-0.8). who as gay (adjusted odds ratio [AOR] 2.28, 1.35-3.85) or bisexual (AOR 2.22, 1.23-3.99) higher diagnosis, compared those did not. Finally, body mass index (BMI) 1.18, 1.14-1.23) greater Findings add growing understanding disorders men. Targeted tailored programming needed sexual minority with BMIs.

Background: Adolescents' early responses and overall outcomes during anorexia nervosa (AN) treatment may differ by patient gender, raising the question of whether evaluating clinical data AN require different criteria. Methods: We investigated, using records, young men women with differed in terms response (defined as weight change variability within first 14 days) predicted similarly across genders. Results: Weight changes discharge all gender groups. higher disordered eating psychopathology body image insecurities at discharge. Gender differences emerged only for gain, which was more pronounced men, modulated effects gain on general outcomes. Conclusions: The present findings suggest that are important predictors adolescents but also hint possible link between and, respectively, psychopathology.

This study aims to fill gaps in understanding DEB the general population during pandemic, emphasising gender dynamics experiences of and/or sexual minority (SGM) individuals. Method A systematic literature review followed PRISMA guidelines investigate focusing on gender‐sensitive analyses SGM populations. Outcomes from included studies were synthesised identify patterns associations related DEB, particularly considering experiences. Results Significant with observed, women consistently exhibiting higher scores. populations also showed elevated symptoms. Longitudinal indicated changes over time, some decreases observed among men. Conclusions underscores significant differences symptom levels. Lockdown measures had nuanced impacts varying across studies. Various factors including pandemic‐related stressors influenced DEB. Consideration these can inform tailored interventions for population. Overall, enhances our how intersects pandemic's impact need diverse approaches address behaviours.

Phenotypical comparisons between individuals with obesity without binge eating disorder (OB) and comorbid (OB + BED) are subject to ongoing investigations. At the same time, gender-related differences have rarely been explored, raising question whether men women OB BED may require differently tailored treatments. We retrospectively compared pre- versus post-treatment data in a matched sample of n = 180 or who received inpatient treatment. We found that displayed higher weight loss than independent diagnostic group. In addition, showed after 7 weeks treatment. The present findings add an emerging yet overall still sparse body studies comparing phenotypical features treatment outcomes BED; implications for further research discussed. The study was prospectively registered German Clinical Trial Register as part application DRKS00028441.
