Background: Atopic Dermatitis (AD) is a prevalent inflammatory skin disease whose course often complicated by the presence of concomitant anxiety and depressive disorders. Dupilumab has been demonstrated to be largely effective in AD. The aims present study were (1) verify effectiveness 2-year dupilumab treatment on symptoms patients affected AD (2) identify predictors persistence psychiatric despite maintenance with dupilumab. Methods: A total 331 severe assessed at baseline different times over 2 years large set rating scales, including Eczema Area Severity Index (EASI), Hospital Anxiety Depression Scale (HADS), Dermatology Life Quality (DLQI). Paired sample t-tests performed severity mental health items. Two binary logistic regression models then used clinically significant depression anxiety, defined score ≥ 8 each sub-scale HADS. Results: After dupilumab, benefited, showing improvement both dermatological comorbid depression/anxiety (p < 0.001 for all scales). Overall, 17.5% 13% patients, respectively, reported residual after found higher body mass index (BMI) = 0.012), lower impact quality life 0.015), more 0.01), while only predictor was female gender 0.03). Conclusions: Using multidisciplinary approach, baseline, dermatologists should closely monitor who are greater risk maintaining therapy, such as those overweight.

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is an age-related progressive neurodegenerative disorder characterized by aberrant amyloid precursor protein (APP) cleavage, pathological aggregations of beta-amyloid (Aβ) that make up Aβ plaques and hyperphosphorylation Tau makes neurofibrillary tangles (NFTs). Although progress has been made in research on AD, the fundamental causes this have not fully elucidated. Recent studies shown vascular dysfunction especially loss pericytes plays a significant role onset AD. Pericytes play variety important roles nervous system including regulation cerebral blood flow (CBF), formation maintenance blood–brain barrier (BBB), angiogenesis, clearance toxic substances from brain. participate transport through various receptors, acts to cause them constrict, detach, die. Further exploration interactions between beneficial for understanding AD could lead identification new therapeutic targets prevention treatment In review, we explore characterization pericytes, other cells neurovascular unit (NVU), physiological functions dysfunctions This review discusses Aβ, as well current strategies preventing or treating targeting pericytes.

Recent research highlights the growing interest in impact of nutrition on cognitive health and function disease, as dietary habits are increasingly recognized crucial factors relation to brain function. This focus is especially important given rising prevalence neurodegenerative diseases decline associated with poor choices. Links now being sought between microbiota gut-brain axis. Mechanisms proposed that include low-grade chronic neuroinflammation, influence short-chain fatty acids, or disruption glial cells transmitters brain.

Processed foods are that undergo physical, chemical, or biological processes to enhance durability, extend shelf life, improve taste and texture, alter nutritional content, facilitate consumption. While traditional processed preserved packaged through methods such as canning salting, ultra-processed (UPFs) industrially produced formulations ready-to-eat ready-to-heat typically contain little no whole food ingredients. Recent evidence suggests the adverse health effects of UPFs may not only be due nutrients they provide but also non-nutritive components their impact on gut health. Diets rich in associated with cellular changes leading oxidative stress, which turn contributes inflammation aging processes. In this context, reducing consumption UPFs, limiting refined carbohydrates, modifying meal timing frequency recommended for improving

Consumption of ultra-processed foods (UPFs) increases overall caloric intake and is associated with obesity, cardiovascular disease, brain pathology. There scant evidence as to why UPF consumption leads increased whether the negative health consequences are due adiposity or characteristics UPFs. Using UK Biobank sample, we probed associations between consumption, adiposity, metabolism, structure. Our analysis reveals that high linked adverse metabolic profiles, alongside cellularity changes in feeding-related subcortical areas. These partially mediated by dyslipidemia, systemic inflammation body mass index, suggesting UPFs exert effects on beyond just contributing obesity. This dysregulation network structures may create a self-reinforcing cycle consumption.

It is now known that diet or food one of the environmental factors can induce contribute to autoimmunity. In a healthy person with normal functioning immune system, substances encounter no resistance and are allowed passage through barriers without triggering reactivity. However, clinicians becoming increasingly aware modern food-processing methods increase decrease reactivity foods, including allergic reactions. Immune reactions undigested antigens could result in production IgE antibodies, which involved immediate reactivity, IgG IgA delayed Currently, measurements these antibodies generally only performed against derived from raw foods. testing for based on consumption inaccurate because people eat both cooked Even home-cooked foods undergo different kinds preparation processing. Food processing change structure materials into secondary, tertiary, quaternary structures have reactive properties. This affect body’s oral tolerance food, causing system mistakenly identify as harmful foreign substance react it immunologically, leading abnormal reaction molecules lead not just target but also own tissues, significant implications autoimmunity induction due cross-reactivity other mechanisms discussed here. We hope this present review will stimulate further research role modified some all key points review.

Objective: The aim of this study was to examine the relationship ultra-processed food (UPF) intake with incidence glaucoma in a large sample Spanish university graduates followed prospectively. Methods: Prospective cohort using data from SUN Project. A final 19,225 participants (60.1% women) included study, mean age 38.2 years (standard deviation (SD) = 12.4). Participants were followed-up for time 12.9 (SD 5.4). Dietary measured 136-item semiquantitative food-frequency questionnaire. UPFs defined based on NOVA classification system. Glaucoma diagnosis determined by asking if they had ever been diagnosed an ophthalmologist. This self-reported has previously validated. Results: After adjusting several covariates, highest UPF consumption at higher risk (hazard ratio (HR) 1.83; 95% confidence interval (CI) 1.06 3.17) when compared lowest category consumption. Regarding subgroup analyses, significant multiplicative interaction found (p 0.004) and omega 3:6 0.040). However, association between only older (aged ≥ 55 years), men, most physically active group, group non- or former smokers, those lower ratio, energy intake. contribution each type coming sweets showed risky effect (HR 1.51; CI 1.07 2.12). Conclusions: prospective shows that greater have developing Our findings emphasize relevance monitoring limiting as means preventing incidence.

Methylglyoxal (MGO), a highly reactive precursor of advanced glycation end products, is endogenously produced and prevalent in various food products. This study aimed to characterize protein modifications SH-SY5Y human neuroblastoma cells induced by MGO identify potential biomarkers for its exposure toxicity. A shot-gun proteomic analysis was applied treated with without exogenous MGO. Seventy-seven proteins were identified as susceptible modification, among which eight, including vimentin histone H2B type 2-F, showing concentration-dependent externally added MGO, defined exposure. Remarkably, up 10 modification sites on vimentin. Myosin light polypeptide 6 emerged biomarker toxicity, exclusively observed under cytotoxic levels. Additionally, like serine/threonine-protein kinase SIK2 calcyphosin, exhibiting comparable or even higher levels control compared MGO-treated cells, endogenous Bioinformatics revealed that motor proteins, cytoskeleton components, glycolysis overrepresented those modification.
