Background In the United States, relationship between visceral obesity and risk of developing atherosclerosis cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) for first time in 10 years is unclear. Methods Data this cross-sectional study came from National Health Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) 2011 to 2020. We collected variable information related 10-year ASCVD reliable indicators [Visceral index (VAI) Lipid accumulation product (LAP)]. And we used multiple logistic regression analyze correlation (VAI LAP) with risk. addition, assessed linear VAI or LAP by smoothing curve fitting. Finally, conducted subgroup analysis sensitivity after excluding participants extreme values ensure that obtained accurate results. Results Our included a total 1,547 (mean age: 56.5 ± 10.1, 60% males). The results showed compared lowest 1st Quartile (≤0.79), adjusted OR elevated Q3 (1.30–2.14), Q4 (≥2.15) were 2.58 (95% CI: 1.24–5.36, P = 0.011), 15.14 6.93–33.05, < 0.001), respectively. Compared (≤28.29), (46.52–77.00), (≥77.01) 4.63 2.18–9.82, 16.94 6.74–42.57, Stratified association event was more pronounced males. Conclusion Higher scores are significantly associated adults aged 40 79 USA, which suggested monitoring crucial reduce event.

Background and objectives Low handgrip strength (HGS) abdominal obesity (AO) have been reported to be linked an increased all-cause mortality risk in older adults. However, the combined impact of AO with low HGS and/or asymmetry on remains unclear. Therefore, this study aimed investigate synergistic effects abnormal among Chinese Methods Baseline data China Health Retirement Longitudinal Study 2011, along outcomes obtained 2018 were used for analysis. was identified as <18 kg women or <28 men, while is defined either hand > 10% stronger than other. characterized by a waist circumference ≥90 cm men ≥85 women. Logistic regression analysis evaluate relationship between AO, risk. Results A total 5186 subjects aged 60 years enrolled, 50.6% whom male. The proportions participants only HGS, asymmetry, both asymmetric 20.0%, 6.1%, 16.6%, 8.3%, 3.2%, 13.4%, 3.9%, respectively. Over course 7-year follow-up interval, 970 these individuals died, 12.4%, 13.6%, 15.5%, 4.1%, 10.1% 6.9% deaths above groups, adjusted logistic model confirmed that (OR = 1.897, 95%CI: 1.386–2.596, p <0.001), 1.680, 1.265–2.231, 2.029, 1.381–2.981, <0.001) associated higher mortality. Conclusions without adults combination further elevates those AO.

Current guidelines for obesity prevention and control focus on body mass index (BMI) rarely address central obesity. Few studies have been conducted the association between normal-weight risk of diabetes mellitus (DM).26,825 participants from National Health Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) were included in our study. A weighted multivariate logistic regression model was used to analyze relationship different patterns DM.Our results suggest that is associated with an increased DM (OR: 2.37, 95% CI: 1.75-3.23) compared without When stratified by sex, men obesity, found a similar 3.83, 2.10-5.97; OR: 4.20, 3.48-5.08, respectively) higher than all other types including who overweight no 1.21, 0.96-1.51) obese 0.53, 0.30-0.91).Our highlight need more attention people even if they normal BMI.

Abstract Background Waist circumference (WC), calf (CC), and body mass index (BMI) have been independently linked to mortality. However, it's not yet clear how the waist-calf ratio (WCR) relates This study aims investigate relationship between WCR, WC, CC, BMI with all-cause cause-specific mortality in older adults. Methods In 2014 Chinese Longitudinal Healthy Longevity Survey, 4627 participants aged 65 years were included, they subsequently followed up 2018. Cox proportional hazards models utilized estimate hazard ratios (HRs) 95% confidence intervals (CIs) for mortality, based on BMI. Results During a median follow-up of 3.4 years, 1671 deaths (36.1%) occurred. Compared second quartile highest had higher risk from all causes (HR 1.42, 95%CI 1.24–1.64), cardiovascular disease (CVD) 1.88, 1.38–2.56), other 1.37, 1.15–1.63). The first fourth quartiles WC HRs 2.19 (1.00–4.79) 2.69 (1.23–5.89), respectively, cancer CC was associated lower other-cause whereas lowest all-cause, CVD, compared quartile. Additionally, respiratory Interaction analyses showed that effects CVD more pronounced adults ≥ 80 (P-interaction < .05). Conclusions Higher WCR increased Lower risk, while only predicted

Obesity is associated with premature mortality in adults; however, this association has been inconsistent the older adult population. In addition, there a lack of specific cutoff points for indicators negative health outcomes adults. Methods: This prospective study 796 non-institutionalized Data on sociodemographic characteristics, lifestyle, food consumption, and nutritional status were obtained at baseline. Generalized additive models used to identify waist circumference (WC) waist-to-height ratio (WHtR) Cox proportional hazards assess independent between adiposity mortality. Over 9 years follow-up, 197 deaths (24.7%) occurred, which 51.8% men, mean age 76.1 ± 9.0 years. Older adults higher risk death had WHtR <0.52 or ≥0.63 WC <83 cm ≥101 cm. An increased was observed high (HR: 2.03 95% CI: 1.20-3.41) 1.51 1.01-2.26) adjusted models, an increase factor CVD 2.09, 1.12-3.88) models. Since vertebral kyphosis and abdominal circumference are thought to influence sarcopenia fall risk in osteoporosis, we evaluated patients with different measurements of sagittal longitudinal axis (SVA). In this post hoc study, 227 aged 65 years or more who visited an outpatient osteoporosis clinic were included the analysis. Sarcopenia was determined from lean body mass, grip strength, walking speed by dual energy X-ray absorptiometry; SVA (median 40 mm) 80 cm) compared between four groups, each divided into two groups. Nutritional management, falls, anxiety scores also examined. The incidence significantly increased those < cm both mm ≥ groups (p 0.05). Nonetheless, lower than individuals 0.01). Based on results values may predict falls. More research is needed before our can be translated clinical practice.

Abdominal adiposity is associated with tumor development and poor clinical outcomes in breast cancer (BC) can be identified by the measurement of waist circumference (WC) visceral adipose tissue (VAT). This study aimed to evaluate association between imaging central according age group women BC. was assessed WC VAT, obtained dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA). Body mass index (BMI) assessed. The presence inflammation investigated measuring C-Reactive Protein (CRP) levels. Multivariate linear regression models were applied verify VAT. significance level adopted for all tests 5%. included 112 a mean 55.5 ± 11.4 years. After adjusted models, remained VAT every centimeter increase WC, there an 3.12 cm2 (CI: 2.40 − 3.85; p < 0.001) cancer, proving simple, fast, noninvasive approach that used as proxy identify fat.
