Nutritional status is closely associated with the prognosis of heart failure. This study aims to assess relationship between Controlling Status (CONUT) score and in-hospital mortality among patients acute decompensated failure (ADHF) in Jiangxi, China. A retrospective cohort was conducted. Multivariable Cox regression models restricted cubic spline were employed evaluate CONUT ADHF from The predictive value for analyzed using receiver operating characteristic curves. Subgroup analyses performed identify risk dependencies specific populations. included 1,230 patients, whom 44 (3.58%) events recorded. After adjusting confounding factors, a positive correlation found patients. Restricted analysis indicated non-linear estimating rapid increase when exceeded 5. Receiver demonstrated good all-cause [area under curve = 0.7625, optimal threshold 5.5]. Additionally, relatively higher observed male those concomitant cerebral infarction. reveals Based on findings this study, we recommend maintaining below 5 China, as it may significantly contribute reducing mortality.

The Controlling Nutritional Status (CONUT) score has demonstrated its ability to identify patients with poor nutritional status and predict various clinical outcomes. Our objective was assess the association between CONUT score, inflammatory status, body composition, as well at risk of frailty in hospitalized elderly patients. Methods: a total 361 were retrospectively recruited divided into three groups based on score. Results: ≥5 exhibited significantly higher levels markers, such erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR), C-reactive protein (CRP), Neutrophil/Lymphocytes ratio (NLR), main platelet volume (MPV), ferritin, compared those lower Furthermore, these showed unfavorable changes including percentage skeletal muscle mass (MM) fat-free (FFM) fatty (FM). A positive correlation found Geriatric Depression Scale Short Form (GDS-SF), FM. Conversely, Mini Assessment (MNA), Mini-Mental Examination, activity daily living (ADL), instrumental (IADL), Barthel index, FFM, MM negative correlation. Frailty highly prevalent among receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve high accuracy identifying frail (sensitivity). Conclusions: is associated pro-inflammatory composition. Additionally, it good tool

Emerging science continues to establish the detrimental effects of malnutrition in acute neurological diseases such as traumatic brain injury, stroke, status epilepticus and anoxic injury. The primary pathological pathways responsible for secondary injury include neuroinflammation, catabolism, immune suppression metabolic failure, these are exacerbated by malnutrition. Given this, there is growing interest novel nutritional interventions promote recovery after In this review, we will describe how impacts biomolecular mechanisms disorders, can be optimized both pediatric adult populations. We further highlight emerging therapeutic approaches, including specialized diets that aim resolve immunodeficiency crisis, providing pre-clinical clinical evidence their use promotes neurologic recovery. Using nutrition a targeted treatment appealing several reasons discussed. high mortality short- long-term morbidity associated with injuries, translational approaches needed.

Purpose: Stroke-associated pneumonia (SAP) usually complicates stroke and is linked to adverse prognoses. Triglycerides, total cholesterol, body weight index (TCBI) a new simple calculated nutrition index. This study seeks investigate the association between TCBI SAP incidence, along with its predictive value. Patients Methods: Nine hundred sixty-two patients acute ischemic were divided into group Non-SAP group. The was three layers: T1, < 948.33; T2, 948.33– 1647.15; T3, > 1647.15. Binary Logistic regression analysis used determine relationship levels incidence of SAP. Furthermore, restricted cubic splines (RCS) utilized evaluate influence on risk Results: in markedly lower compared that ( P 0.001). model revealed that, using T3 layer as reference, T1 had highest for prevalence (OR = 2.962, 95% CI: 1.600– 5.485, 0.001), confounding factors being controlled. RCS found linear nonlinear 0.490, overall 0.004). Moreover, incorporating A 2 DS (Age, atrial fibrillation, dysphagia, sex, severity) substantially enhanced initial model's accuracy. Conclusion: Low associated higher In clinical practice, has shown value SAP, contributing early intervention treatment Keywords: stroke, stroke-associated pneumonia, nutritional status,

Purpose The triglyceride-cholesterol-body weight index (TCBI), a novel and easily computable nutritional index, incorporates serum triglyceride (TG), total cholesterol (TC), body (BW). This study explored the association between TCBI cognitive impairment in middle-aged elderly Chinese populations. Patients methods cross-sectional employed data from China Health Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS) baseline survey, including 7,145 participants. was calculated as TG (mg/dL) × TC BW (kg)/1,000. Cognitive function assessed based on mental status episodic memory, with score below 11 indicating impairment. relationship examined using multiple logistic regression, smooth curve fitting, subgroup analyses. Results After full adjustment, each 1-unit increase log-transformed (Lg TCBI) associated 29.7% reduction risk [odds ratio (OR) = 0.703, 95% confidence interval (CI): 0.529–0.933; p 0.015]. When Lg categorized into quartiles, Q2, Q3, Q4 groups exhibited reduced of by 19.9, 16.3, 22.9%, respectively ( for trend 0.043), compared to Q1 group. Smooth fitting revealed consistent decrease higher levels. Subgroup analysis indicated that stronger among participants aged ≥60 years (OR 0.655, CI: 0.438–0.979), non-current drinkers 0.643, 0.451–0.917), those who engaged socializing 0.568, 0.371–0.871).
