Introduction Loss-of-control (LOC) eating, a key feature of binge-eating disorder, may relate attentional bias (AB) to highly salient interpersonal stimuli. The current pilot study used magnetoencephalography (MEG) explore neural features AB socially threatening cues in adolescent girls with and without LOC-eating. Methods Girls (12–17 years old) overweight or obesity (BMI >85th percentile) completed an measure on affective dot-probe task during MEG evoked responses angry happy (vs. neutral) face were captured. A laboratory test meal paradigm measured energy intake macronutrient consumption patterns. Results ( N = 34; M age 15.5 ± 1.5 years; BMI- z 1.7 0.4) showed blunted response the presentation compared neutral left dorsolateral prefrontal cortex, region implicated executive control regulation processes, attention deployment p < 0.01). Compared those LOC-eating 21), 13) demonstrated stronger faces visual cortex 0.001). Visual cognitive ROIs had trends suggesting interaction patterns among s Discussion These findings suggest that fail adaptively engage regions higher-order processes. This difficulty disinhibited eating could lead excess weight gain.

Eating disorders (ED) are severe psychiatric conditions. While the biological consequences of EDs well established, including an increase in inflammatory biomarkers, influence psychological factors, such as loneliness, has only recently gained attention research. Loneliness been associated with more psychopathology ED patients, while its association biomarkers explored general population. For these reasons, we aimed to investigate any possible associations between features, trauma, and loneliness people ED.

Abstract Objective Research demonstrates associations between poor social cognition and eating disorder (ED) pathology. Moreover, research shows that individuals with EDs struggle emotion regulation. The present study replicates extends the literature on ED pathology, which previously focused largely symptoms of anorexia nervosa among women while focuses bulimia undergraduate men. Further, this tests hypothesis better regulation mitigates association Methods At a single timepoint, males ( n = 520) completed series questionnaires, task assessing mentalising, key element cognition. Results Consistent hypotheses, bulimic were associated worse mentalising self‐reported symptomatology was conditional regulation, such it strongest those more difficulties regulating their emotions. Conclusion are consistent existing theories highlight an interplay interpersonal (e.g., mentalisation) intrapersonal affective functioning) factors in relation to symptomatology. Among males, mentalisation. However, good ability regulate emotions interrupted association.

Background Eating disorders (ED) involve dysfunctional attitudes towards food intake, affecting physical and psychosocial well-being. These significantly impact various domains of life can lead to a decrease in health-related quality (HRQoL). Recent studies emphasize the importance addressing HRQoL ED treatment, particularly context social isolation loneliness, but this aspect is currently poorly evaluated. Methods A sample 220 people with an was enrolled for study from different centers specialized treatment compared 151 general population. Different validated questionnaires were used evaluate eating psychopathology, HRQoL, loneliness. Partial correlation analyzes adjusted marital status regressions relationships between constructs differences groups. Results Higher feelings loneliness associated poorer patients controls. In group, both psychopathology significant predictors HRQoL. Meanwhile, duration disorder predicted specifically underweight patients, BMI predictor individuals normal or above-normal weight. Conclusions findings highlight considering EDs, among younger individuals. This approach aligns increasing focus on role interpersonal recovery process. Additionally, data confirm link weight suggesting that connection, especially those other weights, deserves further investigation.

Risk Bias version 2 (RoB 2) used evaluate studies included this review. All were randomized controlled trials. Accurate information extracted then subjected meta-analysis with Review Manager 5.4 software. The credibility evidence assessed GRADEprofiler 3.6 Results final analysis 13 trials involving 1,444 participants. decrease symptoms scores (SMD = −0.20, 95% CI [−0.34, −0.05], Z 2.59, p 0.01), body dissatisfaction 0.37, [0.21, 0.52], 4.59, < 0.001), thin ideal internalization score 0.42, [0.22, 0.62], 4.12, 0.001).
