Background: Diabetes is a high-prevalence, major chronic metabolic disease demanding effective interventions. Quercetin, phytochemical with potential health benefits, has garnered interest for its therapeutic properties. Aim: This study was designed to capture the early efficacy and clinical safety aspects following quercetin administration in patients type II diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Methods: The main involved randomized allocation procedure assign non-insulin-treated attending 4th Health Unit of Heraklion intervention control groups based on age sex. group (n=50) received 500 mg daily 12 + (8 free intervals) weeks, alongside their usual treatment, while did not. Aims To describe the main characteristics of patients recently diagnosed with DM regarding cardiovascular risk factors and diabetes-related complications, compare possible differences according to sex age group, examine healthy lifestyle behaviors such as adherence Mediterranean diet physical activity their associated factors. Methods A cross-sectional, multicenter, observational study 681 aged >30 years diabetes mellitus in previous 4 was performed. Despite being newly diagnosed, 7.6% (95% 5.4–9.8) had microalbuminuria, 10.3% 8.0–12.6) disease. unhealthy lifestyles low (52%; 48.1–55.9), alcohol consumption (47.7%; 44.0–51.5) smoking (19.2%; 16.2–22.3). The Mediterranean Diet (MedDiet) is considered an Intangible Cultural Heritage by UNESCO; it also the world's most evidence-based eating pattern for promoting health and longevity. This study aims to investigate consumer segmentation based on consumption patterns identify barriers adherence MedDiet. Data were collected in 2020 telephonic survey PREDIMED, using a quota sampling technique socio-demographic variables, such as gender, age, regional representation of Portuguese population. final sample was composed total 1000 respondents. main results show that regardless awareness MedDiet (62%), Portugal witnessed loss traditional MedDiet, with exception stand-out statistic 95% respondents still use olive oil culinary fat. Five segments identified: (1) lifestyle followers (11%), (2) lovers (20%), (3) low-sugar diet foods seekers (4) healthy balanced (28%), (5) low-fat (30%). adhering include lack knowledge about education level, financial comfort, specific food preference, which segment are: being passionate soda drinks, excess sweets, low level pasta consumption, fruit, vegetables, legumes.
