Mediterranean Diet and Quality of Life in Adults: A Systematic Review

Background/Objectives:
With
the
increasing
life
expectancy
and,
as
a
result,
aging
of
global
population,
there
has
been
rise
in
prevalence
chronic
conditions,
which
can
significantly
impact
individuals’
health-related
quality
life,
multidimensional
concept
that
comprises
an
individual’s
physical,
mental,
and
social
wellbeing.
While
balanced,
nutrient-dense
diet,
such
Mediterranean
is
widely
recognized
for
its
role
disease
prevention,
particularly
reducing
risk
cardiovascular
diseases
certain
cancers,
potential
benefits
extend
beyond
these
well-known
effects,
showing
promise
improving
physical
mental
wellbeing,
promoting
life.
Methods:
A
systematic
search
scientific
literature
electronic
databases
(Pubmed/Medline)
was
performed
to
identify
potentially
eligible
studies
reporting
on
relation
between
adherence
diet
published
up
December
2024.
Results:
total
28
were
included
this
review,
comprising
13
conducted
among
general
population
15
involving
various
types
patients.
Overall,
most
showed
significant
association
HRQoL,
with
results
retrieved
domains
suggesting
seems
play
relevant
both
people
affected
by
conditions
inflammatory
basis.
Conclusions:
Adherence
provides
preventing
managing
commonly
associated
populations.
Furthermore,
it
enhances
overall
health
individuals,
ultimately
supporting
more
effective
less
invasive
treatment
approaches
diseases.

Stop
Hypertension
(DASH),
ketogenic
diets,
well
antioxidant-rich
supplements
like
curcumin,
selenium,
polyphenols,
demonstrate
promising
effects
improving
stress
markers,
lipid
profiles,
inflammatory
responses.
This
review
highlights
recent
advances
field,
drawing
from
vitro,
ex
vivo,
clinical
studies,
underscores
importance
integrating
strategies
into
preventive
therapeutic
for
managing
thrombosis
cardiovascular
health.
Further
research
is
needed
better
understand
long-term
personalize
these
optimizing
patient
outcomes.

Relationship between dietary flavan-3-ols intake and mortality in metabolic syndrome population; a large cohort study

Metabolic
syndrome
(MetS)
is
a
global
health
concern
linked
to
increased
mortality.
Diets
rich
in
plant-derived
compounds,
such
as
polyphenols,
have
shown
potential
benefits
for
MetS.
Among
these,
flavan-3-ols,
class
of
commonly
occurring
polyphenolic
are
known
their
antioxidant
and
anti-inflammatory
properties.
Therefore,
we
hypothesize
that
flavan-3-ols
intake
negatively
associated
with
mortality
risk
MetS
population.
This
study
analyzed
NHANES
data
(2007-2008,
2009-2010,
2017-2018).
Flavan-3-ol
monomer
were
obtained
from
the
USDA
Flavonoid
FNDDS
databases.
Associations
assessed
using
Cox
regression,
survival
differences
compared
Kaplan-Meier
curves,
non-linear
trends
examined
restricted
cubic
splines.
Subgroup
analyses
conducted
