Introduction Hyperlipidemia is regarded as one of the crucial factors leading to atherosclerosis and other cardiovascular diseases. Gut microbiota plays an important role in regulating host lipid metabolism. Nevertheless, exact mechanisms behind this remain unclear. Methods In present study, a hyperlipidemic zebrafish model was established using high-cholesterol diet (HCD) evaluate anti-hyperlipidemic effects Lactobacillus fermentum E15 ( L. E15). Results showed that effectively reduced accumulation blood vessels liver HCD-fed larvae. Meanwhile, improved abnormal levels, normalized enzyme activity. Real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR) analysis revealed downregulated expression sterol regulatory element-binding factor (SREBP-1), peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-gamma (PPAR- γ ), fatty acid synthase (Fasn), while upregulated receptor-alpha α ). Additionally, metabolomic produced series short-chain acids (SCFAs), including acetic acid, propionic butyric isovaleric acid. Notably, contributed reduction droplet contrast, blocking G-protein coupled receptor 43 (GPR43) with pertussis toxin (PTX) abolished on reducing RT-qPCR results further suggested both promoted GPR43 leptin A, which inhibited by PTX. Conclusion These findings alleviates HCD-induced hyperlipidemia activating through SCFAs.

Gallstones (GS) are closely associated with obesity. The body mass index (BMI) is the most commonly used for evaluating However, BMI does not consider distribution of adipose tissue and differentiate between differences in fat by sex; therefore, only provides a rough indication overweight status. Relative (RFM) an emerging, simple, low-cost anthropometric that reflects obesity (particularly abdominal obesity), various obesity-related diseases. relationship RFM GS has yet been explored. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate risk developing GS, age patients at time their first surgery, predictive value GS. Data from National Health Nutrition Examination Survey (2017–2020) were used. Logistic regression dose-response curves analyze levels prevalence Multiple linear patient surgery. Subgroup analyses further explored age, sex, race, hypertension, diabetes mellitus. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) ability development. Overall, 7978 adults aged ≥ 20 years included study, whom 828 had history After adjusting potential confounders, each 1-unit increase was 9% (odds ratio: 1.09, 95% confidence interval : 1.07, 1.11), confirming positive, nonlinear correlation. And threshold effect on 40.99. revealed positive correlation remained stable all populations despite subtle differences. results ROC suggested superior BMI. In addition, surgery 30.99. general, higher better predictor than Due nature cross-sectional we unable determine causal two.

The gut microbiome can modulate nutrient metabolism to produce many metabolites interacting with the host. However, intricate interactions among dietary intake, and metabolites, host need be further explored although some studies have been devoted it. Here, in a cross-sectional studies, 88 children aged 2–12 years were enrolled from northwestern China. intake data collected via designed food frequency questionnaire calculate plant-based diet indices (PDIs). Stool plasma samples for metagenomic broad-targeted metabolomic analysis. Spearman's rank correlation was used describe associations between nutrients/PDIs microbiota metabolites. PDI significantly positively associated Bilophila wadsworthia, Bacteroides thetaiotaomicron, Alistipes indistinctus, etc., but obviously negatively correlated Roseburia intestinalis, Faecalibacterium prausnitzii, etc. these species showed no significant either healthy (hPDI) or unhealthy (uPDI). Interestingly, hPDI related species, including Ruminococcus bicirculans, uPDI, vice versa. above trends also observed PDIs predicted microbial functional pathways, metabolome. Notably, pathways focused mainly on substances energy metabolism. fecal contents of P-aminobenzoate, chenodeoxycholic acid, 4,6-dihydroxyquinoline, quinoline-4,8-diol, those TMAO, FFA, creatine phosphate, In plasma, sarcosine, ornithine, L-histidine, distinctly FFAs, carnitine C2:0, Strikingly, index is increased levels tryptophan metabolism, whereas (uPDI) linked tyrosine sphingolipid which are commonly Western diets. The relationship between alterations in brain microstructure and dysbiosis of gut microbiota Alzheimer's disease (AD) has garnered increasing attention, although the functional implications these changes are not yet fully elucidated. This research examines how neuroinflammation, systemic inflammation, interact male 3 × Tg-AD B6129SF1/J wild-type (WT) mice at 6 months-old (6-MO) 12 (12-MO). Employing a combination behavioral assessments, diffusion kurtosis imaging (DKI), profiling, cytokine analysis, short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs), immunohistochemistry, we explored progression AD-related pathology. Significant memory impairments AD both assessed ages were correlated with altered DKI parameters that suggest neuroinflammation microstructural damage. We observed elevated levels pro-inflammatory cytokines, such as IL-1β, IL-6, TNFα, IFN-γ, serum, which associated increased activity microglia astrocytes regions critical for memory. Although analysis did reveal significant alpha diversity, it show notable differences beta diversity diminished Firmicutes/Bacteroidetes (F/B) ratio 12-MO. Furthermore, reduction six kinds SCFAs identified two time points 6-MO 12-MO, indicating widespread disruption microbial metabolism. These findings underscore complex bidirectional inflammation AD, highlighting gut-brain axis crucial factor progression. study emphasizes potential integrating metrics, SCFA to enhance our understanding pathology identify new therapeutic targets.

Background Alcohol use disorder (AUD) is a psychiatric that widespread worldwide. significant contributor to the global burden of death, disability and disease. Modulation gut microbiota promising approach improve efficacy minimize adverse effects colorectal cancer treatment. The relationship between presence microbes AUD has been widely validated. However, few studies have examined this using bibliometric methods. Therefore, study analyzes research hotspots trends in human microbiology over last two decades from perspective.
