Two rare C14-C15 chemical bond-breaking 7/5/5 skeleton schinortriterpenoids (SNTs), Wuweizinortriters A and B (1-2) were successfully isolated from the ethanol extracts of leaves stems Schisandra chinensis., determination their structures was achieved by using NMR, MS, UV, carbon spectrum calculation. (25 μM) moderately protected PC12 cells CORT-induced apoptosis, with viability increasing 18.02% 20.33% respectively, compared to model group.

Abstract According to Dongeuibogam (東醫寶鑑), a UNESCO Memory of the World-registered medical text, Omigalsu (五味喝水) was traditional Korean beverage formulated from Schisandra chinensis (Turcz.) Baill. (Omija, Schisandra) extract and soybean. It historically prescribed for treating “sogal” (消渴), condition characterized by symptoms analogous diabetes mellitus, including polydipsia, polyphagia, polyuria. This study aimed scientifically validate its historical use through modern experimental analysis. To increase ligan contents formulation, we developed Omija soybean mixture (OSM) combining 50% ethanol with cooked powder (5:1, w/w). In vitro α-glucosidase inhibition assays demonstrated that OSM exhibited concentration-dependent inhibitory activity, reaching 39.8 ± 3.4% at 10,000 μg/mL. Sprague–Dawley rats, oral sucrose tolerance testing (OSTT) conducted using 2 g sucrose/kg body weight (BW) after administration. The group maintained significantly lower blood glucose levels compared control group, suggesting inhibiting post-prandial elevation. Area under curve (AUC) analysis further confirmed OSM’s glucose-regulating efficacy, exhibiting AUC values than controls. These findings provide scientific validation such as in regulation, documented classical texts. Furthermore, they suggest has potential functional food ingredient prevention management.
