Microorganisms symbiotic with insects, whether permanently or temporarily, play a crucial role in the nutrition, development, reproduction, defence, and metamorphosis regulation. In some Lepidoptera, oviposition-deterrent pheromones (ODPs) on egg surface were used by pregnant females to modify behaviour of conspecifics avoid excessive competition for limited resources. this study, we constructed four different Spodoptera litura groups, including, OH, OA, SH, which either feed hosts grow environments. The 16S rDNA libraries microbes from groups sequenced. According alpha beta diversity indices, environments diets considerably influenced richness, diversity, community compositions microbiota surfaces. quantity main ODP components corresponding activity among significantly differed groups. result study revealed that altering changed contents activity. As ODPs impart towards closely related species, findings suggest should pay more attention microorganisms changing ability especially sympatric occupy optimal niche when developing novel pest-control strategies.

Many insect-borne pathogens appear to manipulate the odors of their hosts in ways that influence vector behaviors. In our prior work, we identified characteristic changes volatile emissions cultured Plasmodium falciparum parasites vitro and during natural human malaria. current study, prospectively evaluate reproducibility these findings an independent cohort children Blantyre, Malawi.

Abstract BACKGROUND In nature, plant pathogens often rely on insect vectors for transmission. Through long‐term evolution, and have established a mutually beneficial symbiotic relationship. Fire blight, caused by the Gram‐negative bacterium Erwinia amylovora ( Eam ), poses significant global threat to apple pear production due its rapid dissemination among host plants of Rosaceae family. Despite evidence E. transmission various insects, association between this pathogen psylla Cacopsylla chinensis , common vector in orchards, remains unclear. RESULTS Sampling investigations qRT‐PCR results revealed that C. from 11 orchards severely affected fire blight disease Xinjiang China, harbored varying levels pathogen. ‐positive females exhibited significantly higher fecundity compared ‐negative individuals, displaying accelerated ovarian development notable increase egg production. Further RNAi juvenile hormone (JH) receptor methoprene‐tolerant (CcMet) crucial downstream gene Krüppel‐homologue 1 CcKr‐h1 ) mediated improvement induced . Additionally, miR‐2b, which targets was identified as being involved ‐induced enhancement CONCLUSION This study unveils, first time, colonize amplify females. Host miR‐2b JH signaling pathway regulate heightened These findings not only broaden our understanding interaction vectors, but also provide novel strategies managing psylla. © 2024 Society Chemical Industry.
