The formation of microbial colonies and biofilms are common on dental restorations. This can lead to secondary caries. Another complication is the post-operative inflammation noted in patients. traditionally used composites designed without inherent components having antimicrobial inflammatory properties. has become a major challenge current restorative dentistry applications. In order address these challenges, possible approach incorporate eugenol nanoparticles (NPs) into composites. offer dual therapeutic benefits since possess both fact, compared synthetic agents, exhibits antibacterial activity not only against Streptococcus mutans but also range oral pathogens. It anti-inflammatory effects that promote healing by reducing sensitivity. spite above benefits, cannot be incorporated directly materials. because highly volatile poor water solubility. encapsulation suitable nano-materials overcome limitations. addition, it enable controlled sustained release desirable agents for long-term action. this review, we explore mechanisms, advantages potential clinical applications containing NP integrated with eugenol.
