Empowering Patient Self-care in Plantar Hyperkeratotic/Palmoplantar Keratodermas Eczema: A Case Report

Introduction: Palmoplantar keratodermas (PPKs) include a range of inherited or acquired skin disorders characterized by thickening the on soles. Hyperkeratotic dermatitis hands and feet is chronic, challenging-to-treat condition that often results in pain, reduced mobility, impaired functionality. Case Report: This study describes 42-year-old man with idiopathic PPK no prior dermatological history. He initially presented recurrent eczema his left foot, which gradually spread to both feet, particularly affecting lateral borders. Despite negative for fungal patch tests, as well biopsy, hyperkeratosis peeling have persisted 5 years. Conclusion: Because plantar hyperkeratotic chronic condition, effective management requires combination patient selfcare medical treatment. Standard therapies, including antifungal, antibiotic, steroid creams, keratolytic agents, acitretin tablets, regular wound care, were insufficient this case, experiencing symptoms impacted quality life. A collaborative self-care approach essential, focusing minimizing adverse effects such scarring, peeling, hemorrhaging while considering personal environmental factors contributing condition.
