A laboratory study was conducted in the Department of Crop Protection, University Ilorin, to evaluate single and mixed insecticidal action aqueous extracts grape (Citrus paradisi) lime aurantifolia) peel control cowpea beetle, Callosobruchus maculatus. The experiment laid out a completely randomized design. There were four treatments with three replicates per treatment. applied at following rates, 0.5ml, 1.0ml, 1.5ml 100g seeds. parameters used assess efficacy treatments; adult mortality, oviposition, number larvae, pupae F1 progeny emergence. findings this showed that 1.0 ml extract + had significantly higher female mortality compared 3rd 5th DAT. Cowpea ( Vigna unguiculata L.) is an underutilised vegetable legume indigenous to and predominantly cultivated consumed in Africa. This study investigates the genetic determinants of seed coat color and pattern variations in cowpea (Vigna unguiculata), employing a genome-wide association approach. Analyzing mapping panel 296 varieties with 110,000 single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs), we focused on eight unique patterns: (1) Red (2) Cream seed; (3) White (4) Brown/Tan coat; (5) Pink, (6) Black, (7) Browneye (8) Red/Brown Holstein. Across six GWAS models (GLM, SRM, MLM, MLMM, FarmCPU from GAPIT3, TASSEL5), 13 significant SNP markers were identified led to discovery 23 candidate genes. Among these, four specific genes may play direct role determining pigment. These findings lay foundational basis for future breeding programs aimed at creating aligned consumer preferences market requirements.

Cowpea is a nutrient-rich staple legume and climate-resilient crop for vulnerable agroecosystems. Cowpea is a seed legume, important for food and nutritional security in Africa's arid semi-arid zones. Despite its importance, cowpea experiencing loss of genetic diversity due to climate change. Therefore, this study aimed evaluate the variability 33 mutant collections using 20 SSR 13 ISSR markers. This analysis shows an average number alleles 5.15 6.7 ISSR.
