Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) remain the leading cause of death globally, emphasizing need for effective preventive strategies. Plant-based foods, rich in phytochemicals, offer a promising potential CVD prevention. This study investigated antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antihypertensive properties two Eugenia uniflora L. varieties (orange purple pitanga) their leaves. Their antioxidant activity was assessed using 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) free radical scavenging 2,2′-azino-bis(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) (ABTS) cation assays, while evaluated through angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibition. anti-inflammatory determined via protein denaturation Both fruit exhibited similar bioactivities, with variety showing slightly higher activity, except DPPH ABTS assays.
