Abstract Gummosis, caused by various Phytophthora species, poses a significant threat to citrus trees globally, leading reduced fruit production and orchard decline. The primary pathogens responsible are P . citrophthora , P. nicotianae palmivora which infect roots, trunks, fruits, thriving in wet conditions spreading through zoospores. This review highlights the economic impact of gummosis, detailing symptoms such as bark cracking, gum exudation, root decay that contribute productivity. infection process pathogenicity mechanisms spp. examined, along with environmental factors like soil moisture temperature facilitate disease proliferation. Diagnostic methods, from traditional visual identification molecular tools PCR, discussed for their effectiveness detecting pathogen. Management strategies focus on integrated approaches combining cultural, biological, chemical controls. Key practices include improving drainage irrigation, using biological agents Bacillus Trichoderma suppress populations. Systemic fungicides, phosphonates metalaxyl, also remain vital managing high pressure. emphasizes need sustainable control measures mitigate ensuring long-term health profitability.
