Abstract
The
study
focuses
on
enhancing
the
antibacterial
properties
of
packaging
films
derived
from
Pectin
and
Carboxymethyl
Cellulose
(CMC)
by
incorporating
silver
nanoparticles
(AgNPs).
CMC
were
sourced
grapefruit
peels
to
utilize
agricultural
by‐products
introduce
sustainable
alternatives
petroleum‐based
films.
A
comprehensive
characterization
was
conducted
assess
their
morphology,
functionality,
physical/mechanical
attributes.
Pectin/CMC/AgNPs
composite
exhibits
superior
mechanical
properties,
achieving
a
peak
tensile
strength
33.01
MPa
an
elongation
at
break
22.93
%.
efficacy
against
Escherichia
coli
(
E.
)
Bacillus
subtilis
B.
strains
Pectin/CMC
examined.
In
addition,
preservation
green
grapes
using
those
evaluated
over
10
days,
focusing
maintaining
grape
weight,
organic
acid,
vitamin
C
content.
Results
demonstrate
that
all
possess
notable
durability,
with
film
demonstrating
activity.
Green
preserved
exhibit
highest
fruit
weight
retention,
maintenance
in
content,
underscoring
remarkable
enhancement
achieved
AgNPs.
