This study investigates the use of Brewers’ Spent Grains (BSGs) as a sustainable biocomposite building materials, using cornstarch biopolymer binder. BSG aggregates are compared with hemp shives, conventional aggregate known for its thermal properties. Starch is employed natural binder in three different formulations to further reduce carbon footprint material. Considering aggregates, first formulation contains only BSGs, second consists half BSGs and third uses shives. In addition, morphological analysis Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) conducted examine microstructure porosity raw Hygrothermal properties measured Heat Flow Meter (HFM) Dynamic Vapor Sorption (DVS) techniques, while mechanical also assessed. Results indicate that conductivity (0.131 W/(m·K)) double shives (0.067 W/(m·K)), whereas mixed BSG/hemp exhibits 0.106 W/(m·K). However, DVS measurements reveal better hygrothermal formulation. Lastly, found be nearly equivalent across formulations. These findings suggest waste has potential viable material construction. Further work on optimization durability necessary fully realize this promoting circular economy within materials industry.

With the growing concerns over environmental degradation and increasing demand for sustainable materials, eco-friendly composites have gained considerable attention in recent years. This review paper delves into promising realm of seed-based fillers, reinforcements polysaccharidic matrices production biocomposites that are yet focusing on those seeds, which can be considered industrial process waste. Seeds, with their inherent mechanical properties biodegradability, often waste systems, offer a compelling solution to reduce impact composite materials. explores various seeds applications investigates processing techniques used incorporate them matrices. Furthermore, it critically analyzes influence seed fillers physical these composites, comparing performance traditional counterparts. The benefits, challenges, limitations associated from also discussed, as well potential diverse industries. Through an assessment relevant case studies research findings, this provides valuable insights outlook alternative materials landscape, emphasizing role promoting greener more responsible approach engineering.

Due to its high strength, the use of ultra-high-performance concrete (UHPC) is particularly suitable for components subjected compressive loads. Combined with excellent durability, UHPC can be used produce highly resource-efficient that represent a sustainable alternative conventional load-bearing structures. Since fails in brittle manner without addition fibers, it typically conjunction micro steel fibers. The production these fibers both expensive and energy-intensive. Natural plant due their good mechanical properties, cost-effective availability, inherent CO2 neutrality, provide Thanks low alkaline environment dense matrix UHPC, natural terms durability bond possible principle. For application however, knowledge post-cracking behavior or performance reinforced essential. Currently, there are no tests available on influence different types UHPC. Therefore, five series compression bending tensile were conducted. Three (bamboo, coir, flax), one as reference. Under loads, test specimens did not fail abruptly exhibited comparable post-failure damage pattern reference In contrast, perform well under stress but show certain strength. A final life cycle assessment demonstrates superiority shows positive impact environment.

The lexical analysis of seminal policy-to-diplomacy documents from the socio-environmental discourse last fifty year agendas allowed examining evolution five themes: resources/waste, pollution, social and economic development, justice, health. Contextual affinities were strongest between resources, health are linked to societal trends pressures. On those grounds, central role resource stewardship according nature’s physical limits is highlighted, dedicated concepts, analytical frameworks, methodologies with different degrees sustainability analyzed. To reframe identified problems, work proposes criteria choices that (1) allow compare dynamics socioecological states across planet, (2) help matching pace change by addressing path dependencies through participation engagement communities, (3) enable stakeholders make trade-offs take decisions in specific social, economic, political, cultural contexts. prioritization justice responsibility becomes a project : Wellfare State commonfare communities.
