The close association between policy deployment in ecotourism demonstration areas and low-carbon tourism makes it imperative to explore whether such policies can effectively curb carbon emissions the sector. This study utilizes an evolutionary game model theoretically analyze mechanisms of stakeholders’ strategic tendencies following ecotourism. Empirically, using panel data from 276 prefecture-level cities across China 2010 2019, establishment was treated as a “quasi-natural experiment”. A multi-period difference-in-differences employed evaluate inhibitory effects on its underlying pathways ecological zones. theoretical mechanism reveals that, after area policies, local governments, enterprises, tourists tend choose behaviors. Empirical analysis that industry. effect exhibits regional heterogeneity, with significant impact emission reduction eastern cities. exerts through increased investment by governments self-scaling cointegration enterprises.
