Identification of plasma biomarkers for feed efficiency in growing beef cattle offers a promising opportunity developing prediction models to improve precision feeding strategies. However, these must accurately predict at early stages fattening. Our study aimed evaluate the reliability candidate previously identified late-fattening when analysed during fattening and develop diet-specific equations residual intake (RFI). From total 364 Charolais bulls across seven cohorts, we selected 64 animals with extreme RFI values. The were fed either corn‑ or grass-silage diets. These chosen from four out available cohorts. Animals three cohorts (24 high-RFI 24 low-RFI, having mean difference 1.48 kg/d) used biomarker confirmation model training. fourth cohort (8 8 0.98 external validation. Blood samples collected beginning test (333 ± 20 days), underwent targeted metabolomic 630 metabolites, natural abundance
